Mayser "Spezial", 60cm, Crown Open 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 3/4 inches, probably later 1950s. This hat is in super condition so probably seldom worn. The felt is fantastic and easily dry creases. Also looks great brim up or down.

My new hat.

This is my ?¢‚Ǩ?ìHavana?¢‚Ǩ? styled Montecristi from Optimo Hats. I got it as part of their annual ?¢‚Ǩ?ìFino Club?¢‚Ǩ? Montecristi acquisitions. It?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s the finest Montecristi hat that I own and I got it at a great price (especially considering how fine the detailing is). Enjoy

Echter Velour - Soleil, Crown Open 6 inches, Brim 2 1/4 inches probably 1930s. No company mark but the shiny golden felt is beautiful. The Wet Brushed Velour - Soleil is very soft to the touch and easily dry creases. The sweatband has come loose in few areas and there is some felt wear at the the front crease but still very wearable. I would like to thank Daniele for the tip on this one that was on German Ebay.

Wow Steve, this is a piece of history. It has just enough patina to offset your parade of NOS/never worn/pristine offerings. It has some real character!

Thanks! It has some wear but the felt is actually in good condition. The only issue is at the tip of the front crease which can be a problem spot for Velours like this one that have seen some wear. The front view is probably the best representation of the Velour - Soleil finish (can see the shine). I will wear it today and take some additional photos.

I, too need to thank our friend, Ol' "Eagle Eyes" Tanto for finding this Borsalino Alessandria in the right size!!! Two Borsas in two months, an all-time record for me. Everything is for a reason, and my prohibitively large dome keeps my collection at a reasonable size. What IS a reasonable size collection?

More photos to follow, but here for Daniele's viewing is the Borsalino, circa 1955-ish? I haven't done the research yet...

Please pardon the smug puss, but I'm stoked, chuffed, and basically pretty giddy. The shoulder holster is merely to invoke the secret spy look, as this was an international underground exchange. Thanks again, @Daniele Tanto!!

Lets us praise lucky men;)
I'm really glad for the nice find of Steve
When I saw the Echter Velour - Soleil on eBay I thought it has the right character for the historical and huge hats collection in Baltimore.
This hat got all my curiosity and I'm sure I will have a perfect report directly from Steve when he will be in Italy

Charlie, as you see your agent in Italy works well:rolleyes:
It is no easy find Borsalino and other Italian hats in your size, but it happened
The hat was professionally restored in Milan - Sergio Anzani - Cappelleria Melegari that gave it new life for the trip to MA

I'm really happy to be useful for loungers!
