He seems to have a good reputation here in Toronto so far, but the hats are kind of pricey for such a new provider. I wish him well though and hope he succeeds. There are never too many hatters, and never too many in Toronto for sure.

The Toronto Star recently had an article (at least the on-line edition did) about a hat store called "Jack and I" on Mt. Pleasant Road. I haven't been there myself, but it might be worth a visit.

These hats are made to measure - compared with "off the rack" prices I've seen on-line, they seem reasonable to me.

I have known Steven for years and although he is new to the business I can vouch for his dedication and investment in his education in the field. I haven't inspected one of his hats so I can't speak honestly about the craftsmanship but I CAN speak to his integrity and I would trust him to do his very best should you order from him. He sent me links to his designs a while back and I have to say he appeals to a younger crowd than me but hey, they need hats also, right? He is definitely trying to find his own way in the biz rather than just copying someone else so he deserves kudos for that.

Well then that's 2 new hatters-we are living in a golden age here in Toronto. Hopefully hats are making as strong a comeback as the media is saying.

I think this thread deserves an update. I received my first Drexler hat about 6 months ago and yes, it is a fine example of custom hat making. I purchased the "Londoner", Stephen's version of the Lord's hat. His pouncing and overall attention to detail is stellar and IMHO stands at the top with a few other custom hatters whose works I possess. Immediately I placed my name in the queue for a second one (a 10 month wait list). It comes due end of April so need to get clear on what I want. Leaning strongly towards a newly added model for Stephen, The "Cotswold". A cross between a Lord's and a Hommie. Just can't decide on the colour of felt.

I sure would like to but continue to have problems uploading photos. I cannot get the photo files small enough to be accepted. It has been most frustrating.

I’m looking at a Leon Drexler...any chance you can post your photos to this thread? I’m torn between a Leon Drexler and a BSHW, and if the past is any indication I’ll get both :)
I would love to see some of Stephen’s work here.
