Just wanted to put some outdoor shots up of this beauty so they are preserved in this thread

Stetson issued many variations of the Stratoliner model over the years. The softest to the hand felt,in my experience, is the hat pictured below - vtg. Stetson Royal De Luxe Stratoliner.

The Royal De Luxe hat, tan colored, has a unique ribbon treatment.

The same block and flange give the hat the same shape as other Stratoliners on my hat rack.

The markings on the leather sweat identify the model if touching the felt and seeing the ribbon did not give away the hats lineage.

I will wear this fedora with pride. Thanks for letting me share this special Stratoliner.

+1...I've got a Royal Deluxe Stratoliner too...VERY SWEET lid. Mine doesn't have that bow treatment. Truly a prize there Eric. Congrats!!!

Thanks. I appreciate your comments immensely. It is yours and many of the other Fedora Lounge members of long standing that advocated the thin ribbon world. I am a devotee today. I have read this thread from start to finish many times and still garner info. I hope others enjoy the discourse and the history of the many discoveries surrounding the thin ribbon Stratoliners.

Back to the De Luxe - man it is a grand felt. It rocks! I have looked for the model for nearly 6 years and and so happy that I stayed on the hunt. I am like several of us on the forum and have many Stratoliners. I appreciate the differences and while I can enjoy the history of the changes, I can also wear the models.

Thanks to you and the other folks who have been strong influencers for my hat experience over the years. Ever appreciative of my 1st world challenges of choosing which vtg. Stetson Stratoliner to wear, Eric -

That is a nice one. In the bigger picture of nice hats, we here have also felt a vintage Stratoliner is hard to beat, more so if you like the thin ribbon look. A few other hat makers back in the day made some nice thin ribbons but I tend to think after having some of them...they all were gunning to be like the Stetsons. Nothing wrong with a Champ or Dobbs, or any other vintage thin ribbon..but lets face it...they just are not a Stratoliner!

I've got vintage thin ribbons by Marathon, Pilgrim, Dobbs, Disney, Knox & Resistol but none measure up to the Royal Deluxe Stratoliner. I LOVE my mid-ribbons too but they just seem a tad more dressier than thin ones which are my daily-wear lids. HatCo really needs to have a museum for us to visit instead of just a factory & outlet store!!!

Deckard use to occasionally show off some old stuff on his Instagram, but it might have been his own things.

Hereyago. We each resolve to donate a vintage hat to the FL Lounge when we pass. We could stock our own museum. We'll put it in the back of @Bob Roberts' bird store. [emoji14]
