Hey, its been a while since I was last on here. Prolly a few years. Anything new with Panama hats? Has Bob disappeared for good? I bought a boat load from him several years ago, so now I have a good number that are trying to break out and get worn!

For details you'd need to read the entire thread.Short story is that he apparently has moved to the US southwest. His sources in S.America have essentially dried up and I don't recall him posting anything in the last several months.

konadog, may as well start at the top and work your way down from there. https://www.brentblack.com/ Out your way I'd probably contact Tom Gomez. I have one of his Cuencas at a much more reasonable price and I love it. There are several others out there and I'm sure some members here will chime in. http://gomezhatcompany.com/

John Penman has 1 or 2 super duper fino fino semi-colado Montecristi hats posted on his website. If you're really wanting the ultimate, there it is, along with the suggestion of Brent Black, which is where John's hats were sourced from.

As stated, do check with Art at VS, and Mike at NW Hats. You never know what's out there until you check. Also, Bob Jesse at BSHW. All those hatters make some super Panama hats.

There are so many hatters to pick from. For some budget minded Peters Brothers. Also our own Esther here can do some magic making summer fedora hats....

Yes, I have Mike making me one as we speak. He has a stack of very nice bodies, his price is quite reasonable. I could never float a Montecristi past the wife, but she was impressed with Mike's price on the straw when I told her how much the Monte was. Call or email Mike, you will not be disappointed.
I thought his hat bodies were only Cuenca? I didn't kno he had Montecristi.
