I've already loved the Open Road. I have 3 Akubra Campdrafts but wasn't satisfied.

Finally, here's my Fawn 6x OR which I reshaped to better suit my taste

Hi all, I wonder if anyone could shed some light on the age of my Open Road? I bought it from a US vintage store but it looks pretty new to me; every other OR I've seen has a white lining? Size 7 3/8 is marked on a small paper tab under the sweatband near the ribbon. It is also marked with the retailer on the sweatband, 'McWilliams & Mosley, Visalia, California'. Thanks in advance!

Hard to tell from the pics posted. If you could post more pics of the interior that would help. Size tags, other markings; look behind the sweatband for any other tags, as well.

Cool liner, though.

Sent directly from my mind to yours.

Does the brown sweatband indicate that it's not recent? I thought Stetson went to black sweatbands sometime in the '70s?

Great looking hat. Love the colour of the liner. If you can add a photo of the size tag, that would be a good indication of the era it was made in.
Wear it in good health

Something about the gold "John B. Stetson Company" on the sweat makes me think of older models I've seen here. Does Stetson (Hatco) even print the original name on their hats any more?

That logo was used pre Hatco and I believe is still used for the 3X and 4X Beaver Stetsons.

Now that I consider it, without seeing any additional tags, the "Made in U.S.A." stamp at the front makes me think it's pretty recent vintage.
