Posted this one in the German and Austrian Hutmachers thread, just to compare it with Moehawks recent find. P&C Habig export qualität, size 57, lined with plastic covering of the crown part, 5cm brim and 10,5 cm crown at the pinch. Dark blue colour. Dated 1974.
Here's the Borsalino homburg I posted in the Borsalino Brotherhood thread earlier. Size 59 (6 punti) in the colour Dattero, ribbon Nadir. Brim 6 cm and 12 cm crown at the pinch. Even with Borsalino's always running a bit small and with some cork strips between the sweatband this does not fit me and looks oddly large on my head. I bought it anyway because it's rare to find homburgs in this colour. So I thought I'd be it's custodian. Judging by its label early fifties.

Here is one I acquired at an "antique mall". It is an older Stratton long hair (they called it their "beaver finish") brown homburg. Probebly fom the 80's or later, but they no longer make such hats. They are mainly known for their law enforcement hats.....they do however make a few nice westerns. Still in buisness in the Chicago area............
This is actually much the same as the 40's Stetson Regis in the tall crown and wide brim.......it is a true brown (second photo is about right) with a nice sheen.....
It was a bit mushed up, but I reblocked it, put in a center crease ( kind of turned into a teardrop really) with counterdent (again for my big head) and front pinches......bit of brushing and I have a nice hat!!
It has been a favorite to wear in the cold weather......but as spring has fully sprung will soon be put away.

I saw this one and almost put in a bid! I'm glad you wound up with itThis arrived yesterday. I don't know much about Collins & Fairbanks, but the hat looked absolutely cool so I had to put down a bid. Glad I did!
It had a wonky brim when it came out of the box. This is pre-dewonkification, facing forward.
It took some heavy steaming and hand-shaping plus holding it in the desired shape till it cooled to get the wonk out.

The simple box bow is growing on me. Nice clean look to it.

5 3/4" open crown, 2 5/8" brim. Not a lightweight at 161g. Sweatband is substantial, and still supple with good stitching. This is a nicely made hat.
I will venture a guess of late thirties to early forties. Any input always welcome.

Another hat I picked up this week. I'll post this one in the Great British Hat Makers as well. Joseph E. Ward Luxe Quality, size 58 (but fits me remarkably well), brim 6cm, crown 10,5 cm at the front (no pinch in this one). It doesn't show on the pictures of course, but this one has the thinnest felt I have ever seen for a homburg. Very high quality finishing. Joseph E. Ward was a hat company based in Bredbury, England and didn't make hat bodies itself. It just did the finishing. In 1958 it merged with the hat factory Battersby&Co of Stockport England, which places this hat somewhere in the late fifties or early sixties. The liner still shows Jos. E. Ward Bredbury and the sweatband Joseph E. Ward Stockport. The factory merged together with some others into Associated British Hat Manufacturers in 1966.
The ribbon does have a few wrinkles, but these will steam out fine.

Stefan, It's really fantastic! It might be a bit earlier. I have a Mayser Hut-Seidl that has a similar form and color but later. Can you post it the German - Austrian thread too?

The shape of a homburg, without the brim binding. A Lord's Hat, when you don't want the full formal look, a front pinch is just fine! I believe this Churchill is of a more recent vintage, probably 30 years old I guess. Sure is a fine feeling finish, fits like a dream.

I picked up a Churchill similar to this a while back, but mine seems to have a more tapered crown. This is more evident in person than in the pictures.....I thought it was about the same nice rich color.......it is the same model yet looks different somehow....here are a couple of pictures...it is fun comparing the different hats......the Churchills seems really hard to date though!

They are definitely brothers. Mine has absolutely no evidence of it's age, no tags. It does have a glued in liner however, so probably newer.
