The late John Dehner in his second appearance as John Sims, godfather to Johnny Yuma, on The Rebel:

Both Rebel scripts were written by Harry Julian Fink (the creator of Dirty Harry Callahan), and his Mr. Sims is a fascinating character. Wears the heck out of that pretty-much-unbashed hat, too.

Robert, I've been watching it as well and there are a few things I could nit-pick but I don't tend to do that as I usually fall into the either I like it or I don't camp. This one I like. The acting is solid with some great Texas scenery. Very cool about the house. You didn't happen to ask about the price for one of Brosnan's hats, did you?

I didn't, but I see @Moviehats has the answer. That's in line with the other custom hats by Texas Hatters & when you see them in-person, they look even better than in photos.

My wife and I have been watching reruns of The Andy Griffith Show a lot lately, and I was somewhat surprised by the number of straw hats worn by the "supporting character" actors and background extras. They're mostly "Panama/Fedora" styles with a few "Western" styles thrown in; one hat in particular with a distinctive band/Puggaree has been worn by a number of actors in various episodes. I'm guessing this was done to reinforce the show's "rural small town" setting, but since the show was filmed in southern California during the spring and summer months I can't help but wonder if the actors' comfort was also a consideration.

Anybody watch Storage Wars?
In yesterday's episodes Darrell the Idiot found a cool aluminum hat stretcher (non electric) and hand tooled leather hat box containing a Shtreimel that appraised at $4000. Forgot how much the stretcher was worth.
Talk about a lucky find...:)

When I was a kid I used to enjoy watching the TV way too much! However, two shows stood out for me because of the attire of the lead male characters; John Steed in The Avengers and Pan Tau, a Czech TV show I watched as a army brat in Germany.

I always thought John Steed (Patrick Macnee) always looked so darn British in his Bowler hat.

Another Bowler hatted character was Pan Tau which ran on German TV.

Alas, I'm not a suit guy and don't think a Bowler would suit me at all (being more of a baseball cap kinda guy), but these two looked the part in theirs.

Every bit the British gentleman John Steed: "Mrs. Peel, we're needed!" Great show, fond memories.

Is it worth seeing for more than just the hats, and do I/you/we need to have seen Lonesome Dove first?
"Streets..." is the 4th & final in the series. Except for James Garner as Woodrow Call (& Gus McCrae is dead) all the other actors returned as the main characters. It isn't necessary to have seen or read "Lonesome Dove" to follow the story but it would help to understand the relationship between characters & what they have been thru, & you would get more out of it.

Just the kind of answer I was looking for. Thanks!
