Nobody does it better.

I'm sure there is another thread, somewhere in the FL treasure chest, about who played the best James Bond. No matter who your preference may be, I will always have a soft spot for Roger Moore. He was James Bond during my teen years and I never missed a movie with him as 007. He was suave and debonair, with just a bit of cheesiness thrown in. The plots --and bad guys-- were over-the-top and only got more crazy towards the end. (Octopussy. Moonraker. Sheesh.) How many times can one man save the world? Nonetheless, MI6 has lost a great agent with the passing of Roger Moore. RIP.

I have all his 007 movies in my collection, Sean Connery & Roger Moore are the only guys I accept as James Bond

all the others that came later are imposters in my opinion.

Sad news, but he had a great long life and career!

He was Bond when I was growing up, and going to Jackson Square Theatre in Hamilton, Ontario, was a treat for our family. That theatre, long gone I think, is where we went to see James Bond and the Pink Panther.

I always had the impression he enjoyed his life and his work, and never took himself too seriously. So what if he never won an Oscar? He worked steadily in a cutthroat business for 50-odd years, was a household name (at least when he played Bond), and kept his sense of humor about it all.

Beau Maverick, Simon Templar, James Bond, and more. Good resume for any actor. And he truly embodied The Saint, "the Robin Hood of crime," as Charteris pictured him, I think -- something nobody has been able to do since.

I hope I look half as good as he did when I'm 89.

Funny what a difference a few years makes. My lead guitarist was heartbroken yesterday over news of Moore's death. He's younger than I and to him... Moore was Bond. I'll not post my opinion of him in that role here... but reading his Bio I must say he lived one extraordinarily full life! Well done!

By all accounts he was as lovely a human being as his Bond was awful. And he said Connery was best too. RIP indeed. A thoroughly decent chap, and there are few enough of those already.
