This French hat feels to be made of wool. The bow reminds me of some older exampls that have come through my hands (20s), but I cannot be certain. The ribbon is lined with a decorative wind cord. The inside shows what looks like glue residue from a crown logo.

Justin, Great finds! As I mentioned (based on the D.P. on the paper label) I think this one is from Delmas & Pont, Quillan (Aude) that made Merino Wool Hats.

Their advertisement is in the lower right corner (from Revue De La Chapellerie (1912) ). You can click on the photos to expand.

Is that a leather sweat, Bob, or manmade material?

I'm looking at this hat, and although I'm heading to Ecuador this Fri/Sat I don't think I can do better than this for $49 plus shipping... especially with a leather sweat.

Just arrived. Rothschild Longley hat. Does any one have any info on the brand and hat? I really like the hat but it's about 2 sizes too big.

I bought a Churchill beaver felt hat back in mid May. A couple of days back, after being missing in transit for about 1 month, it arrived. I prefer a larger brim but the felt feels lovely and it looks virtually unworn.

Great looking hat, Karl. These homburgs have a tendency to grow on you. Slowly but surely you'll want more and more of them. Dunn did not make their own hats but sourced them. It doesn't look like one that was made by T&W Lees (one of their suppliers), but by the look of it it's a fine quality hat. Good score!

Do we have thread for store brand hats? I'm too lazy to look, so I'll post these here. These hats come from the hatstore Jos van Dijck in the Bakkerstraat Utrecht, the Netherlands, founded in 1923 and still exists today. Apart from selling the usual brands of hats like borsalinos and maysers he used to sell hats under his own brands. I have two of these: Baldini and Baldifino. Let's start with the Baldini. Size 57 (I think) in grey, bound edge at 6cm and crown 10,5 cm at the pinch. No label of any sort in the hat, liner glued. Judging by the felt and the ribbon treatment I think this one was made by Dutch manufacturer Nehoefa, who also made hats under the brand name Staalmeester. Not the highest quality and Nehoefa made better hats in their earlier days. Still a fine looking hat though.

Second one of the store brand hats is the Baldifino. For the longest time I thought this was just an attempt to cash in on the borsalino name, with a cheaper hat and a similar sounding brand name. Untill someone pointed out that Jos van Dijck used that name for his store branded hats. Odd thing was and is however that this one is a very nicely made hat; high quality. Don't know who the maker was, but I suspect it is in fact of Italian make (Cervo maybe?). Baldifino in mint green (doesn't show very well on the pictures maybe) with raw edge brim at 6,5 cm and crown at 11cm at the pinch. No label of any sort in the hat. Liner states Extra Lusso (extra luxury). Sold this one on because the colour and I never got along (never could understand why someone would choose a mint green hue for a hat). Still a nice little piece of hat history.

NOS Borsalino sub-brand "Linea Augusta". Light grey 5" to the pinch, 2-3/8" brim, 1-3/4 black ribbon. Super soft, loovvvely felt, another "crease and go, no steam".

It is a glued label, but seller says from late 80's. We had some comm challenge ultimately resolved on the meaning of "glued liner", but as a good will gesture, seller threw in the plastic hat stand, panizza.

Additional information on the Baldini and Baldifino hats from the Jos van Dijck store. I've been searching a bit and found out that the owners' name is in fact Baldi. Here's a picture of the current owner Francesco Baldi.

Recieved the black Adam yesterday, have had the brown Royal Penn for a couple of weeks, so I thought I would post them together. I have been really liking these "egg crown" stingie snap brim porkpies for casual wear. The brown in a real nice short hair finish with a 2 inch brim. It has a 2 inch ribbon and the felt is super soft. I have been wearing it around town this morning.....

The black (Adam) is real differant with a smooth finish felt with actual flecks of red, brown, green, and a sort of grey heathering throughout. It has a 2 1/8 inch brim and a 2 1/4 inch ribbon. It has the earlier style onion skin type tip protector and sewn in liner. Liner has standard logo tip, but additionally the side silk has "Adam" and a small crest imprinted throughout.......

I know many do not like the porkpies, and I never used to......I think mainly because of the people who tend to wear them brim up on the back of their heads etc. But I have found that when worn as a normal fedora they go well with jeans......and I always get a compliment when wearing them.....same as when I wear my "regular" hats (and my trademark bowtie)!
