Tried on 3 different Himmels today. These plus a Canuck at mildblend here in Chicago on Milwaukee Ave.
no fit pics as I think that would've been weird but it was interesting to handle these in the flesh. The staff was super friendly and let me try on about 50 jackets while my jeans were being hemmed.

Honestly I wasn't even remotely looking...it was a real treat to try them on tho. I don't fit the jackets very well either TBH. They were all far too slim in the arms and shoulders and the largest size was 44". The fits seemed a lot like the Vanson Gambler. The details and stitching were as expected, immaculate and precise and the jackets on the whole are just beautiful to look at...but the hide itself didn't do much for me. My 12lb Aero has spoiled me for other jackets. I know it's probably a nightmare for some but that is my gold standard and literally everything else I've touched since receiving it, even my own old favorites, pale in comparison (in my terms).
I loved the store, first time in. Super friendly staff, very helpful and did a right quick chain stitch for me. God forbid I ever go in there after having a few. There's so many unique pieces that you just can't lay your hands on for the most part. And the lack of hipster prentention was very appreciated. Especially in Wicker Park.

When I went to Self Edge in LA, I looked at the Himmels and had my son try some on - none fit me. I left thinking, sure, they're nice, but nothing and I mean nothing made me want to buy one. Son was the same. So I don't know, I've seem some here that I've liked, but I was not blown away at all. Not a knock, just didn't hit that spot with me.

Actually got to wear my Ventura last night. Sure, I was kinda hot, but it was cool enough to get that first wear of the season in and I can't wait for fall!

By the way, this jacket deserves a review. Never have I seen a jacket that was as well made as this one. There is just not a stitch that is not on the right spot. Don't know about stitch count and all but all you OCD people would be quite satisfied with this I believe.
I have never seen a Goodwear in real life but this sure is on par with all the major makers in Canada, Scotland, USA and Japan.
Having worn this for the last few days, made me even more happy about this purchase.
I would love to eliminate the storm cuffs though. I think I will ask a tailor of she/he is able to do that for me.
I know this jacket looks tight, but it's really comfortable to wear.

I picked this up at the same half price sale and for the same price as the Montgomery Ward leather. It's Swedish Army dated 1942. I'm auditioning it for a little autumn woodland and bicycling wear. A bit short of sleeve and probably not large enough for more than a light sweater under, but a nice wool melton and handy in the pockets. Enough pocket that I can forego the backpack on my bike outings.
I"m liking the cool mornings and evenings that have been showing up. Can comfortably wear a jacket for a couple of hours a day at least.

That's exactly the same feeling I had...Certainly can't fault the quality or attention to detail. The hardware he uses is quite nice and purposeful but I think the cuts are just too slim for me and the Shinki that I handled with these three didn't do much for me. Which really is a good thing. I'm known to be impulsive and being able to actually touch these suckers in person was a real treat.

Another good point. I have Shinki and had another I tried as well from GW. Both have amazing character - the one's we saw at Self Edge were so lacking that I actually wondered if they were fakes. So yes, details were as good as expected, otherwise...
Exactly what I thought! The few I've seen here...the leather looked much nicer than the ones I tried on...like a completely different grade.
