I will be sure to pause during my day to remember those heroes.

Here is an interview with Battle of Britain Ace, Tom Neil. I can't tell you how impressed I am with a 95 year old who comes across sharper and better looking than some guys who are decades younger. I had never heard the bit about German pilots bailing out and then their planes flying on and getting double-counted as "kills" in different sectors.

The multiple claims were very common with the bomber crews, where a lead squadron would shoot a plane down, the pilot would bail out, then, with the loss of weight, the plane would climb and go through one or two more bomber formations, an easy kill!

We held a Battle of Britain Sunday ceremony at sea this past Sunday. The names of the 23 Canadians killed in action during the campaign were read aloud, wreath laid at sea, along with prayers of remembrance. Sadly, most of our air det was off ship, as the helo was taking part in training in England, but they had a presence who very much appreciated the event.
