Hi Guys, i know this is not exactly a sports jacket, but since the trousers are no longer with us i thought i'd post it hear.
This is me at a recent vintage fashion show i was asked to take part in, wearing this Richman Bros jacket i recently posted.
It was a lot of fun!! i can tell you.

That's Bud, found it hidden on ebay..... paid £25 quid for it!. No brainer!!

what do you search to find it? Even on ebay UK, searching "1940s sport coat mens" comes up with items that are most definitely NOT 1940s. I even try a generic "vintage tweed", and still, nothing older than the 60s. Teach me your ebay magic o, Wise One.
(apparently, also, people know what they're selling true vintage is unattainable in price for me...and size.. but I keep hoping that somebody doesn't know what they have..keep on trying to search the right thing).
Such particular search words won't give you anything. Just type words like 1940s, Vtg 40s, 40s style, 40s (With this one you might get modern stuff in size 40short pop up) and go trough everything, it takes time.what do you search to find it? Exactly......thats what i do.....you might strike it lucky.

Beautiful coat - Ivy League detailing - no darts on the chest, natural shoulder, the hooked vent, and the 3-2 button stance. I'd say late 50's-early 60's.

Here's another recent jacket I had made by the same tailor. This time I've gained a few pounds so we had to let some material out
The issue with the button has been fixed, I've overlooked it by accident when picking it up
The back.
The pleats and pockets were pretty much the same as the previous jacket I've posted. Next jacket should be different back and pocket style.

looks like I"M not going to be getting a custom sports coat any time soon. Not unless I want to not eat for three months! XD
Hamilcar - that's an exceptionally handsome jacket.
I love the longer cut and the classic fit with the vintage half-belt. The styling is just so sumptuously understated and classy, everything thereafter looks either naked or stuffy.
In the colour advert, the houndstooth half-belt jacket is unfortunately paired with what looks like a pair of Brighton seaside candy floss pants ;}p The fellow on the right, is better co-ordinated for jacket and trousers with a straightforward wide stripe suit (were walking canes popular in the era? Or is that an umbrella ...surely not since it is Britain which has the unpredictable weather).
I confess I have no idea how to wear checkered jackets and co-ordinated checked jackets with trouser stripes doesn't sit without looking off-kilter too me. I presume the red t-shirt was just what you were wearing when trying the jacket on for fit, and unintentional lol. I like the plain off-white shirt and the advert's cream bucket hat, to bring out the contrast of the checks, instead of competing colour with the checks. Same with trousers - cream or off-white chinos seem to fit the ideal summer weather wear which the jacket is designed for. Just fantastic that you managed to recreate a vintage piece (and the price is no surprise sadly).
What's the fabric 'worsted lightweights'? Is this a linen combination with wool for summer.

First picture is foggy because the mirror is original to the 1928 apartment and is the only full length one we have
The tweed does feel nice and the jacket is only partially lined which I like in this case so that I can wear the jacket inside without boiling over. It's a reasonably priced (wait for a 25-30% off sale which J.Crew has regularly and is how I go mine), decently made, "knock around" sport coat.
