good thing I was wearing my purple sash when I read this
Purple?
Monsignors wear purple, 'mr monsignor moon'

My mum's cousin was a Monsignor, he decided to build an international airport in the middle of the west of Ireland, to create employment, everyone laughed, he built it, they came. Knock international airport. I mean he did manage to get Jesus's mum to appear and that too, you know buy the by, smoke and mirrors (-:

The Hat Squad is a crime drama television series that ran for only one season on CBS, during 1992–1993.

We use the saying "Wear the hat; don't let the hat wear you" often around here, and this is an example of the hats (and the clothes) wearing the actors. All three of 'em look like they borrowed those clothes for a Halloween party.

meh...it doesn't look so terrible to my eye...

but then

you are the experts, not moi. :D ;)
Oh, I'm no expert either. But my mind knows what looks right and what doesn't, and those clothes on those guys look like a 1990s interpretation of a 1930s-40s wardrobe by someone who didn't do much homework. I know the show wasn't a "period" piece and didn't need to be "accurate", but they could at least have chosen clothes that weren't two sizes too big.

To me it was if they were trying to inject a "Miami Vice" meets the 50's vibe. Oversized suit coats over pastel t-shirts. Come on!

You are correct! I also sense a "Miami Vice" vibe !!

That's how fashion was in the early 90s, clothes were meant to look oversized.

In the eighties it was even more pronounced. Very baggy that's how it was supposed to look.....everyday.....not just for Halloween  :p :D

I think it depended on where you lived. I can't recall anyone in this part of southern California wearing those oversized clown suits until Miami Vice became a hit, and even then it was a minor blip on the radar that didn't last long. On the down side, for several years you couldn't throw a rock without hitting someone wearing "stone washed" denim, so that was the trade off. :(

Didn't see much of it around here. Never did figure out the whole unstructured jacket with padded shoulders thing. Never saw espadrilles on a man, either.

M Squad is an American crime drama television series that ran from 1957 to 1960 on NBC. It was produced by Lee Marvin's Latimer Productions and Revue Studios. Its main sponsor was the Pall Mall cigarette brand; Lee Marvin, the program's star, appeared in its commercials during many episodes. Alternate sponsors were General Electric (GE), Hazel Bishop and Bulova watches.

Lee Marvin was probably my all time favorite actor. The Wild One, Donovan's Reef, The Professionals, Cat Ballou...
I met him once in a bar in Tucson. If I didn't know who he was, I'd swear I was drinking with some old Cowboy who drove an old pick up truck (that's what he was driving). Nice down to Earth guy who could drink me under the table.

Marvin played a professional robber in 1967's Point Blank with Angie Dickinson. Though they changed the main character's name, the movie was based on the first of the "Parker" crime novels by "Richard Stark" (Donald E. Westlake). To this day Marvin is my image of what Parker would look like in all the novels Westlake wrote about him. (Odd, but while several of the Parker novels have been filmed, I don't think the filmmakers have ever called the main character "Parker.")
