C2 Sweater Suggestions

I'm looking for a good sweater to layer under an A2 jacket. The C2 seems like a natural choice. I know there's also a vest (sleeveless) version also, but I'm leaning towards the long sleeve sweater version. I'm open to any other suggestions you might have.

So far I've only seen the Real McCoys' version in person. It looks great, but like all things RMC isn't cheap…

I've also seen the Pike Brothers' version online. It looks pretty good & the price is better. Compared to the RMC the differences I've noticed are no hanging strap (probably won't use that anyway) & the RMC has brownish cuffs & skirt.

If anyone has experience with these or other makers' C2s or any other suggestions please share them!

Have you considered the Engineer sweater from Outdoor Knitwear?

I lusted over the RMC C2 sweater for years. The cost is a serious hurdle and kept me from making the purchase for a long time. Finally they restocked with the blue version in my size and I went ahead with the purchase. Once it arrived I have been wearing it once a week to work. It looks excellent under a collared shirt and fits perfect under an A1 or A2. Absolutely no regrets and I would love to have the green version someday too. Of note is that it is not soft against the skin, it is wool and can be noticeably scratchy against skin if that is an issue for you. All I can say is if you really want it drop the coin, you won't regret it. RMCs version is full of the wonderful subtleties that really make this sweater shine.

I've got the Pike Bros version. Generally I wear it under my B6 have worn it on high rotation through the last winter. Absolutely no regrets and no pilling or stretching either. I would recommend it.

Well, the pike c3 sweater arrived today and it fits perfectly. As Garry said “form fitting but not tight” unfortunately after trying it on it was whisked away by the mrs and hidden until Christmas Day! Roll on the cold weather.
