The car looks like a 1949 Buick Super Sedanette. I think it would look great with my name on the title. :D

1949 Buick Roadmaster Sedanette 2-Dr Model 76-S / Style 49-407/ Engine 248 cu.in. Straight 8. Dynaflow transmission. ''Royal Maroon'’ original color.

Downtown, you always wore your Sunday's best!

Friend at work had a corvette. Nice but
built low that there was almost always
the issue of hitting bottom except
on the flat roads. Once drove a Porsche Carrera New Mexico,
that sucker could go from stop to top speed in seconds. Scary!

Gorgeous. The other day my wife and I followed a beautiful 1950 Ford Tudor coupe (i.e., a "shoebox") down the road for several miles. As far as I could tell it had been restored to "factory" condition (i.e., not quite polished to "car show" quality) and had been painted a slightly brighter and redder shade of maroon than the Buick in your photo. It sagged a bit on the driver's side so it might have had suspension issues, but it had no trouble keeping up with the more modern cars around it.

Cars in the 50s would Fly ! I remember the Speed Limit , before Interstates , being 65 MPH on two lane hwys , and there was a place down by the (Mississippi) River called the Slab where they raced . Plus they had drag races at the Air Base at Halls . Seat Belts were for Fighter Pilots and Professional Race Car Drivers . Seems like it was Jimmy Carter that wanted the speed limit dropped using the excuse of the Arab Oil Embargo in 76 I think , but I don't recall for sure , it might have happened before with Nixon .

These are some dudes that have been in front of my news camera.
Mostly during campaign press conferences. It’s next to impossible
for a local camera boy to get a one on one interview after they are in office.

And I believe the reason I got a one on one right off the bat with one of them was
because of my pretty reporter with me. :D

1974, so it was pre-Carter, but the given reason was in response to rising oil prices and supply disruptions such as the oil crisis of 1973.
