Miller Hats - no longer decent quality?

I've been hat shopping online today and doing a lot of searches here. I really like the Open Crown Indy by Miller Hats.

Used to be that Miller Hats were recommended in threads, but I've read some comments that their quality has nose-dived.

I take it that most suggest avoiding them these days?

Everybody's onboard the Akubra train. I ordered one about 5 years ago from reading here. I sold it within 6 months of receiving it as it just didn't thrill me. Hoping for a domestic US option with return options.

For some reason I thought that they went out of business?

Can't comment on the quality, but their specs on that Indy lid aren't 'screen accurate,' if that's at all a factor.

I really dig my Stetson Fortune and Glory. Nicer finish than Akubra. But Mike at Northwest Hats sits very near your price range.

Thanks for the post. Not concerned with specs being screen accurate as I generally don't wear my hat Indy style. I just like the color, brim size, and open crown. And I'm most concerned with quality in the $200 and under neighborhood.

That's me, too. Before purchasing my Fed IV, I looked at Miller. I like the fact that you can choose brim and crown size, felt color and ribbon color. I'm not a screen accurate guy, just love that style of hat; the straight and 're-bashable' (sp) crown. would love to know from anyone with experience on their hats.

Am I thinking of Peter Brothers? Yeah, that was supposed to be about Peter Brothers, sorry. Although, Miller Hats offer some options too, I believe.

I didn't know Miller Hats was still around, or had come back. Their "Gunslinger" hat looks sharp, and can be ordered with a range of brim widths (as little as 3") and colors.

Well I just checked their site and now may try a Miller hat instead of the Belfry/Stetson offering I was considering. Thanks for bringin up this thread!

As I understand it Miller Hats is a "brand" not a manufacturer. I have a Hommie from them, decent quality, mid range Stetson level felt, made by Biltmore. On their site in notes country of manufacture for each style.

I ordered their Sinatra fedora. Made in Canada. High quality, though a bit stiff

I've purchased several hats from Miller Hats.
They are located in Texas.
Mary Miller, the owner, is wonderful and will answer all your questions and advise you on any concerns you may have.
Tha quality of the felt varies according to the style hat you are looking for.
I purchased 2 gambler hats 7x fur felt. Both are really beautiful, one black, one gray.
I just received my fedora, called Fedorino in brown.
I asked Mary if I could have a wider hatband and she obliged me with a 1 3/8" hatband in place of the 1" in brown to match the hat.
How I started with Miller is because Stetsons, Akubras etc. had no hats I wanted in stock.
It was months before I could get a hat and their prices jumped alot.
Miller prices are terrific and the stock is abundant. I receive my hats within 4 days.
The hats also come in a Miller hat box with a handle for traveling.
What more can you ask.
Give Millerhats a try you will be very happy.
I'm ready to order my next hat the Harrison Indy open crown hat in gray.
