Thanks Eric. You are looking good in the vest and coat today. It's been significantly warmer here in Iowa than at my sister's in Ottertail county, but wool season definitely hit it's stride today with a high around 52 and strong northwest winds. My kind of weather. Ha ha.

If I decide to work outside today or get on my bicycle a cruiser coat might be called into action as it's in the low 40s with a 25 mph wind out of the NW.

HaHa--well "all of the above"--I adopted the handle as play a Fender Stringmaster steel guitar (although regular guitar is my main instrument)--not that I'm a master of all things with strings (kites included).

Love the Mile Marker jacket. I have one in the ubiquitous black hue. It sees regular wearing.

I forget the name of this Filson jacket. It sees frequent wear during the Fall and Spring.

No pics of me , but I have several Filson jackets Tin Cloth Jacket , Quilted Pack Jacket , several wool vests , and a Mackinaw Wool Cruiser , and I'll tell ya the Quilted Pack Jacket is probably the most versatile for me .

I also have several Filson jackets, vests, jacket liners, shirts, hats, gloves, socks even a leather lined flask (still unused). Do like their products - obviously, but I think they are making the big push into the hipster market and hope they don't forget their older customers. One example is that they always had the wool packer coat available year round. Now, they only offer it in a "limited edition" - which is already sold out unless it's odd sized and jacked the price to $795.00.
Nothing against expanding their base - they have to do it to stay competitive and I enjoy going to both their NYC stores, but am wondering how many times Filson has changed corporate hands in the last so many years?

I have noticed this the last couple years as well and it is a damn shame. I just picked up a double Mackinaw in the red and black buffalo plaid a couple weeks ago off eBay for under $300. The seller estimates that it was purchased in the mid 90s but it has spent its entire life in a closet and it is pristine, practically brand new. If Filson keeps on raising prices the way they are I will stick with eBay.

Brands like Filson and Viberg boots are in a weird position. They'd probably like to stick with their original direction and customer base, but not only do they have to keep the doors open, but they also have OPPORTUNITY staring them in the face. Potential profit on a larger scale. Both their notorious quality and old school traditions are exactly what gives a brand that glow to the hipsters. I don't really like that term: hipsters. I use it. I get it. But there's more going on there. Barbour has done it too. I'm sure countless others as well. Slimmer, tailored fits with fashion in mind rather than utilitarian garments of high quality. I can't really blame a young person for wanting good quality stuff, even if they never put it through the paces. Quality stuff is cool. In a world of poor quality and planned obsolescence, it's even cooler.
