Thanks Mike, The manufacturer's tags (it has 2) are the style from the 40s and 50s but the text is in Spanish. I've been trying to find info about Stetson licensed hats in Spanish language countries but so far no luck other than a mention that they did have a licensee in Mexico beginning around the 30s. Any additional info would be much appreciated. It does have really fine felt, except for the worn spot at the pinch.

The jury is still out. I am in the queue with NW Hats for a full on, in your face Whippet-esque fedora. Right now, I'm looking at a dark gray with burgundy ribbon and binding, 2 3/4" brim and mile high crown.

Gorgeous hat and great colour!Thanks, Red - I think it was about 4 years ago that the Biltmore plant in Canada was closed, production was moved to somewhere in Texas if I remember correctly. There was a hat store online that sold a lot of the last hats with super deals at the time.
This morning was dark and rainy (yet again) and I wore my Black Cherry from John Penman to run some errands and vote in the primary. Gotta love the Texas early voting.
