Heading out for the evening under a MacLachlan.

Mr. Bowers identified it for @rclark who later sent it to me. And if you peruse the MacLachlan thread, you will see the same size tag show up in one of the other models.

The felt on the MacLachlan made Stack trilby I just got is thicker, but the feel of the finish is very, very similar.

Happy Friday night all!

I'd say so!!

Steve, have you ever been asked when and how you started into hats, and the specific sub-set of German and Austrian?
Charlie, I just decided to focus on them. I think the old Austrian Velours got me hooked. There is a large void here when it comes to vintage / antique European Soft and Stiff Felt Hats. RLK (Robert) also has a large collection of old German and Austrian (also French and Italian) Soft and Stiff Felt Hats but unfortunately doesn't post anymore.

Thanks all for the kind words and likes of late.
Today it’s the “Total Mystery Black”. Unknown manufacture and i’ve not been able to identify the sweatband crest. It’s almost identical to a Boss Raw Edge in every way and is very old. Any info would be appreciated. It’s a Mystery to me.
Be well. Bowen
That's a great vintage hat Bowen! Has a great look!

OK Rick you have convinced me. THIS is the OR I desire! I would even wear that beautiful color in a cattleman crease. Covet!

Dude! I love everything about this hat and now I'm wondering if I can pull that look off... Bravo!
You really could rock a derby Justin! They don't work as well on the back of the head like your Hommies though, you need a jaunty tilt. I may have an old Stetson derby that would work for you. Let me think about it...

Rooster wool flat cap today. The feathery baby is competing for my attention:

This picture has all kinds of sweetness written all over it.

Mordern Stetson Inwood in Caribou, bashed to pork pie diamond, by me. It's the same hat that's in my avatar pic (avatar is the original bash)

I have a couple Lee back bows with a factory crease much like this long looking porker. I seem to remember reading somewhere that this crease was called a "Teardrop". It may have been on an advertisement. I think of a true porkpie (which goes back to the turn of the last century) as being much more round, like a pie.

Many thanks for the likes on the Steve gift, the marvelous velour J.H. Huckel
Sun and hot today. It is springtime!

Borsalino Qualità Superiore
Color "Caffè" and no model name
Felt is very thin and malleable
It is not so old as it appears. The shape and proportions are really interesting

Have a nice Friday!
It may not be "old" but it sure is classic looking! Nice color too.

1950s Royal Stetson “Kashmir Finish” in varying light from this morning.

The color and finish of this Stetson looks great in all forms of light. I really like the interesting color of the ribbon, and a nice mid ribbon it is. Super hat Bob!

VS made from vintage NOS Mallory felt. Thanks to @hatsRme for the great hat!

Congratulations Brent, this is one impressive hat! Vintage felt for the win!

Hey all!
Going with this old favorite, the early Flagship.
Have a great day!

Oh boy, oh boy!! Love this one. My old favorite too. The liners on these are really cool.

I need to stop by more often. A new bounty of felt beauties every day!
My black Dobbs stingy. She’s my blues band lid. Brim up, baby! Enjoy.

Good to see you Mike. That is a sweet blues hat. And, brim up is proper for the occasion.

You grace us once more with this incredible No.1.

Makes me think of this image from an old Ernest Borgnine film "Emperor of the North". Something about the old stetson thing...

It is indeed a piece of history Bowen. I too have been searching for some clues, nothing yet, but never say never.

R. Hecht Leipzig probably 1930s and a recent arrival. This Wool Stiff Felt has no company mark but most likely one of the large scale German Hat Companies that were located in Eastern Germany that produced both Wool and Fur Felt hats but didn't survive WWII.

These incredible wool stiff felts never cease to amaze me Steve. Blacker than black.

You have a good time in that great hat this evening Matt. It is truly impressive.

yep, that is a pole alright
Your identification skills are epic sir. If not a horse photobombing that pup is happy to take over duty.
