    Comfortable Vintagey Shoes?

These are my everyday shoes, very comfortable. I took out the kiltie as it looks a little funny on me. Let's see... I bought these in July or August, and have worn them almost every day since. I do have to add a little arch support, but still they are more comfortable than my tennis shoes...

    What's your favorite candy?

No, no, no. First, you arrange all the M & M's in a mosiac-style design, eating those that refuse to look neat. Then, remove one color at a time and rearrange the design to look pretty again, keeping the colors well-coordinated. Is this making any sense? Ah, well. If you at any time end up with...

    Cookies, get your cookies here!

Mmm... I make a lemon-shortbread with super-lemony glaze. Always delicious, but I use a pound of butter for one batch. It doesn't help that I eat most of the cookies myself. I could share the recipe, but you'd probably stone me after eating your fifth batch of cookies and stepping on the scale!

    The Right Slip

Do any of you ladies make your own slips? I know Elaina mentioned making her own, and I was wondering if there are any tricks or guidelines to follow (with the fabrics). I am thinking about making myself a slip from flannel for the winter. Is this practical?

    Boredom: A plague upon us

I'm never bored, thanks to an over-active imagination and being easily entertained. I've had hot chocolate packets become acrobats (much to the amusment of my little cousins)and pencils dance happily after finishing a test (one of my friends started giggling...I'm guessing she's seen Benny and...

Movie Cliche´s - The Singing & Dancing Family Scene

After going through many months without being able to walk properly, I find that these "cliche" song and dance numbers really happen. I find myself singing and dancing around the room at any given moment, just because I can. I have noticed, however, that nobody else wants to join in... I...

    Our own vintage town

I was going to suggest the same name! That is, if the location fit. I'd also like to suggest 'Bayport'.

    Bargins and favorite pieces!

Here is my lovely brown suit! Detail: This was my great-aunt's suit from way back, I'm not sure on the date (any ideas?). She made it herself, and did a beautiful job. Lucky me... apparently I am her exact size! I do need to find or make a nice dickey or two, now!

    Our own vintage town

I'll be postmistress... but I'll need a mail-carrier, unless you'll all pick up your mail at the post office. That wouldn't be too bad, now would it? I think we'll also need a skating rink (and a pond nearby for ice-skating in the winter) and a switchboard operator.

I missed three... and I only guessed on the ones I missed!

Would you rather live then or now?

I'll be the postmistress! But, even though I'll know everyone's business, don't count on me to share...

Back to College, and back to "class"

I don't mind! Well, at my school you were dressed up if you wore something nicer than sneakers or flip-flops, so I was overdressed most times. Yearbooks: I picked up two high-school yearbooks ('30 and '34) from the local antique store for $10 each. The college yearbooks had a higher price, and...

    Occupations

In any era, I'd like to be a mother and a housewife, but if I went for a career: Postmaster in a small town. I would know everybody's business (though I wouldn't share or discuss it) and wouldn't be lacking for company throughout the day. Plus, I love to sort things! I've always wanted to...

    The Kitchen Door.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You can't know what you've just done for me! I have this slight, shall we say, obsession with old mail-order homes. You have given me many hours of entertainment and happiness. Thank you. And Wild Root, here is another link with mail-order house plans. There...

    Interesting Our Daughters in Vintage

I have a "Betsy" book! I saved it from the library discard piles at my elementary school years ago, be cause it looked cute (cute, old, and free, who could resist?). My mother read it as a child, and as her nick-name is Betsy, it has a special meaning.

    Bleaching "scars"

According to the plant search database: "The bulb is anthelmintic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge, hypoglycaemic, hypotensive, lithontripic, stomachic and tonic[4, 7, 21]. When used regularly in the diet it offsets tendencies towards...

    What sounds do you like?

A Johnny popper starting up and taking off. An old hay baler with a little gas engine working in the field (behind the Deere). Small hail or rain on a metal roof outside my window. Mourning doves on a cool summer morning as I wake up. The sound my feet made on that old, unfinished...
