The library at my university had bound copies of London Illustrated News. It was a weekly magazine. During WWI they listed the officers who died during that week and the names numbered in the hundreds week in and week out.

I picked up a Stetson 4X Beaver hat today. It has a card in it saying it came from a Stetson Factory Outlet in either Danbury, CT or Saugus, MA so I'm guessing it is from before 1965. Does the 4X mean that it's 40% beaver or is it something a lot less?

I introduced my friends to Bertie and Jeeves in college. I was walking through stacks one day at the library and happened upon the P.G. Wodehouse section. I had a vague idea of who he was and grabbed a book off the shelf at random and it seemed promising so I checked it out (I think it might...
I have the previous model Explorer Jacket. Mine has more pockets and a hood in the collar. I don't know if I'd wear mine in hot weather, it's heavier than say my old Filson safari jacket. It's a good fall jacket here in Southern AZ.
There are a few things I don't like about mine. I...
In the first article there is a photo of a cameraman who has a large aparatus hanging from his left side with a thick cord running from the camera into it. Does anyone know what that is? Synced sound? Battery?

I used to see some nice old TVs. I saw a real nice Crosley in a red lacquer cabinet with Chinese decorations on it. If it hadn't been $350 I might of bought it. Sorry, no pictures.

I read a book once by a teacher at West Point who said that once the Germans were pushed out of Africa they had lost the war. Of course it went on for years after that but there was no way they could win.

I have a couple pairs of Filson Safari Cloth pants. I haven't worn them in the rough but they seem durable and water beads off of them. I think I've gotten all my pairs through different sales so they can be had cheaply (relatively).

I went to Japan in 2001 around the Christmas/New Years holiday. Apparently everyone goes back to their home town at this time so Tokyo was about abandoned. It was pretty cool. The famous intersection in Shibuya was almost empty. The Ginza was still crowded though. If you don't like big...
Looking at the photos in the article I don't think that people here will be confused with fashionistas.
It reminds me of a "country collection" some womens designer put out a few years ago with 6 inch stiletto heels on the boots. Not too practical in the real country.

I don't wear cologne that often but the only times I've ever been asked what I'm wearing it has been when I was wearing Old Spice. It happened twice and each time the ladies seemed incredulous. Probably because of the associations with their fathers or other old men.

This back pack is in incredible shape and looks brand new. This is from when the brand was bought by Lands End and is made in China.
It is made from 100% Cotton Bush Poplin.
More pictures available on request.
Thanks for looking

I have that wallet as well. I like it although I am on my second one and need to send that one back to Filson. The stitching keeps unraveling. I don't know if it's that I stuff it too full or that the thread is cheap.
At least since it's Filson, I can just call them up, tell them the...
