New, but I did put a crease into it, so technically used. I just don't like the style. Paid $199 from One 2 Mini Ranch. You can change the crease in the crown any way you like. $30 shipping plus a reasonable offer. I think the pin is worth something.

Akubra "The Outback". This is a hat I have never seen before. (Not to be confused with the "akubra outback club"). I have found it for sale only in Germany (sold by some Australians there, super nice people to converse with). It is sold on Ebay by: the-australian-way.de They also have their own...
For achieving optimum smoothness in the finished hat I have read two different things.
"The Cowboy Hat Book" by Rand says to use sandpaper.
"Scientific Hat Finishing and Renovating" dated 1868, says use emery paper.
I have watched a video from Rand of them using an ordinary small electric...
I just received my hat puller downer from Mark DeCou. Very fine quality craftsmanship. Some of you may remember seeing the brim cutter he made for me at: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?10619-Brim-trimmer-cutter-or-rounding-jack..
He is a true craftsman, good with emails. He even...
Gary White gave me some powder to put onto my bone (off white) hat to fix problem blemishes.

I suspect that it is...
I saw this hat on ebay. I was looking at the velours. I saw this poor pathetic looking hat and decided to rescue it. It is from the 50's I assume, as I found this advertisement:

I found this interesting reading as I have been contemplating purchasing a straw hat. Please indulge me as I post the following information from:

"Since the first use of Shantung (aka Shantung Panama) to make hats, the material remains widely a...
I saw this hat on television. Does anyone recognize it? What kind is it. It appears to have a low crown with unusual swoops on the brim. Also, do you think it is a dimensional brim? Thanks in advance.
