    Required Music Collection

Thank you- I was just about to mention foreign music! German compilations are some of my favorites.

    Your favorite silent movies.

[Giggle!] I adore Charley, too, even his talkies. ;) And you're welcome, Hadley!

    Your favorite silent movies.

Harry was so cute! He's my favorite, right next to Harold Lloyd. :D "The Strong Man" is fabulous. It's probably one of his least bizarre movies, but that doesn't make it any less funny. The Kino DVD featuring that one and two other titles is a worthy addition to your collection!!

    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

Agreed about dance shoes! I have "character" heels (t-strap and maryjane styles) that are incredibly comfortable and pretty at the same time. Thank you for those links; I already see things I like!! ;)

    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

I ran across heels designed for tango dancing, many of which have a vintage look: http://www.guaranteedfittangoshoes.com/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=17 http://www.guaranteedfittangoshoes.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=87&idCat=17&curPage=3&sortField=pop ^ These are especially...

American nurse held in Japanese POW camp in WWII Dies

On a somewhat similar note, the last American female WWI veteran died not too long ago. http://www.knoxnews.com/kns/national/article/0,1406,KNS_350_5447012,00.html It's very sad to realize how little time there is left for other veterans. :( As does "Cry Havoc" (1943).

TCM Star of the Month: Rita Hayworth

I'm not a huge Rita fan, but it's always neat seeing actresses in their early days, often before they were very famous! P.S.: Lolita, if you'd like any titles recorded for you, let me know!! :)

    vintage violin

Lovely!! I played for over a decade, so I'm so always interested to hear other adventures of the musical instrument world. :)

    Cold Cream- Brands and advice!

I would probably second a few of the earlier replies (in this and other related threads), suggesting to stick with the Pond's brand if you're new to the stuff. Although the ingredients are nearly the same, the Jergens version caused my skin to break out after a short while. :(

    Am I the only one...

Lorac makes a pretty nice, light shade: It's called Porcelain and I believe I found it on the Sephora website awhile back. Neat site! I was recommended mineral makeup since I'm terribly pale and have an endless amount of trouble finding anything decent in drugstores. Thanks! :)

The look of Clabber Girl (baking powder) and Maxwell House coffee have stayed pretty much the same!

    Girdles, Corsets, and Underpinnings

How fun! I've seen wool panties (the longer types that go to about mid-thigh) on a few online shops, and I know during the early 20's and before wool stockings were the norm. I wonder if you can still buy those, too...That is, those that reach thigh-high and not sock-like lengths. EDIT: Ah...

In the same area, Zarah Leander was a fabulous singer!

40's or 40's inspired christmas music?

Not completely 40's, but two of my favorites: :D

Yes! I also just found an interesting photo of theatre star Gabrielle Ray from 1903: :D

In the spirit of the Queen Mary...

Hooray, I was just thinking about that one! The '40 remake wasn't anywhere near as good. :D
