    Question about spats

It seems to me that they are sized according to the cir. of the ankle....I have two vintage pairs, one is marked "10" and measures 10" around the ankle when fastened, the others are marked "9" and measure 9" when fastened. They are both a grey wool felt material with leather straps and were made...

    The Bowler or Derby Hat

That slogan reminds me of one from "Are You Being Served". "If you want to get ahead get a Hat" Very interesting hat indeed. Regards, J.S.

    Downton Abbey - I'm hooked

I'll sure be glad when the DVD's are released. This waiting a week between episodes stinks.......

    Homburg Nation

Here are my daily wearers. I almost hesitate to post them after looking at the others on this thread. The images on this thread have cast a craving on me for a vintage Homburg. These are all modern, the gray is a Miller, the brown a Scala, and the black is a Beaver Brand 5X. The gray is my...

    The Bowler or Derby Hat

Absolutely, I always tie my own, however I am a perfectionist and prefer that it looks "almost" pretied. I guess I like to keep them guessing. I have posted on some of the mustache threads here on the Lounge recently but lately I have only looked at the posts on the bow tie thread here and not...

    The Bowler or Derby Hat

"I take it I will find all your homburgs on the Homburg Nation thread Undertaker? " Sorry, I must have missed that thread along the way. I will look it up. I too, wear my homburgs with a suit and I always wear a bow tie. Last summer I bought a straw homburg but I have not been as pleased with...

    The Bowler or Derby Hat

Well, I think I am going to give it a try. I almost exclusively wear a Homburg. I have them in black, grey, and brown, but I think I will break this bowler out. It is a great hat and I just hate leaving it in the closet and not getting any use out of it. It seems if you give any consideration to...

    Ascots

I picked this one up at a local thrift store yesterday for a whopping $3.00. I was pleased, I seldom find anything worth buying there. Regards, J.S.

For those who wear a bowler, How often do you wear it? What kind of reaction does it evoke? Thanks, J.S.

    Watch Chains

Yes Sir. That is why I use the cloth. I know some guys who polish gold filled watch cases on the buffing machine, but it is just too scary to me. A little too long or a little too much jeweler's rouge and nothing but brass, ask me how I know:eusa_doh:. They do not seem to tarnish when you carry...

Vintage Pics in your vintage threads!

How did you get the border on yours. It looks great. I have often wanted to redo some with the car with out the modern cars in the background and would love for them to look as authentic as yours. Regards, J.S.

    Black tie trousers

They did not come with buttons for braces but that is easily fixed. These were new and cost right at 50 pounds (about $75.00 USD). I knew of a Funeral Home near here where the employees all wore black Swallow tail coats and black waistcoats with striped ties and hickory stripe trousers sadly...
