    US Authentic Custom Jacket Questions

That's valid, Seb. I like the idea of horse hide and made in the US, but maybe I'll save that for my next A-2 and get the Secord in goat from Magnoli. It'll probably come down to price when I'm ready to buy. I've heard mostly positive things about both brands.

    Coffee, grind your own?

I French press on the weekends. I've got a Capresso burr grinder with whatever beans are on sale. Usually it's Kauai Coffee dark roast. 16g water per gram of coffee, coarsest grind, 200F for 4 minutes, then press.

What Did You Drink Last Night?

Not last night, but just now: Dark and Stormy. Gosling's Black Seal (what else?), with Seagram's Ginger Ale. I'd have preferred Buffalo Rock or Barritt's, but Publix was out of both.

    Classic Pilot Watch

Sorry to necro a six year old thread, but it's my thread so I can do it, right? Anyway, I'm back on The Lounge after a several year hiatus and I just saw that this thread began with my first ever post. It started my watch fascination and in the time that I was away, I published a few articles...

Anyone interested in/wearing original military watches?

I wear a modern Hamilton Khaki handwind on a NATO most days. It's pretty similar to the GGW-113. Worn with a current issue Cockpit A-2.

    US Authentic Custom Jacket Questions

That's encouraging. Any idea how often they run sales? There's a great one going right now (15% off everything including custom) but I'm not quite in a position to buy. I'm hoping another one rolls around before October and jacket weather.

    US Authentic Custom Jacket Questions

Has anybody done any custom work with US Authentic? I'm thinking of having a Cliff Secord (The Rocketeer) jacket made and I'm wondering what to expect. Shaul quoted me $800 for seal brown horsehide which is a great price (especially since it's made in the USA whereas a Magnoli in goat would cost...

What is your vermouth brand of choice?

In the James Bond novel Diamonds Are Forever Felix Leiter orders martinis for himself and Bond made with Cresta Blanca Vermouth. Evidently the Cresta Blanca was one of the major factors in establishing the California wine industry, but the brand isn't in production anymore. Too bad. I like...

    The Martini

The Quintessential Martini Using the search function I've been able to find threads on gin, vodka and vermouth. Let's put them all together in a thread about Martinis. Gin or Vodka. Sweet or dry. Perfect or dirty. Olive or onion or a twist. Not apple-tinis, choco-tinis or bacon-tinis but...

    Sharps Rifles saga

I've seen them all and enjoy most of them. I found the earlier ones were the best and I wish he hadn't gone through quite so many women...made the series a little too melodramatic.

    Classic Pilot Watch

Thanks for all the replies. I found them very informative. I'm going to follow Caffeinated's lead and narrow it down considerably. I'm looking for a GMT (with an extra hour hand for dual time zones) type watch, black face, leather band, stainless steel with an automatic movement for approx...

    Scut Farkus...Style Icon?

I seem to recall the toady having a pretty nice looking jacket as well.

    Classic Pilot Watch

Caffeinated, I'd be interested to see how watches changed, not only with watch technology, but also with aircraft technology. I imagine that as aircraft got faster, watches with the ability to display multiple time zones (either through additional hands or bezels) became more popular. Likewise...

    Classic Pilot Watch

Hi guys, This is my first post. I've lurked for a while after being referred here by an Art of Manliness member (can't remember who). Anyway, as far as style goes, I'm partial to the classic pilot look. You know, jacket, glasses, watch. I know where to go for the jacket (I like Cockpit, I...
