Newer photos of "The Lady Be Good"

I stumbled across some new photos of "The Lady Be Good"... the unfortunate B-24 and her crew... lost in the Libyan desert... for 15 years... until a oil survey team found the missing bomber in 1958. I am sure that most of you out there have heard the story or seen the photos of "The Lady Be...

    Desert War

Howdy, Stearmen...The news of "The Lady Be Good"...is not a pretty one...It seems that the Gaddafi regime had the aircraft removed from the crash site...and transported it to a Tobruk Police compound...and didn't even bother of how they took the aircraft apart for transport! I found this website...

P-51 crash at Reno Air Races

Thank you for those kind words Bluebird Marsha... I am fine and doing well. Just wanted to set the story straight about what happened...from my perspective...as there have been a lot of false rumors. I have been in constant contact with friends at the Air Race Association and in the aviation...

P-51 crash at Reno Air Races

The largest piece I came across at the point of impact was a 1/4 of a prop sheared off at the knuckle which attaches to the hub assembly. The reports of the impact crater has been noted as being over 6 feet deep...Nope... about 2 1/2 feet at it's deepest point and about 6 feet long reaching...

P-51 crash at Reno Air Races

You are right, dnjan...If the NTSB finds out that the pilot seat failed and was one of the factors causing the crash in their investigation, I have no doubt that some regulation and or proceedures will be handed down to all race crews, owners and aeronautical engineers, to completely re-engineer...

P-51 crash at Reno Air Races

As of today... the NTSB has a theory that Jimmy's seat failed and collapsed sending him backwards into the cockpit...which would explain the photos of not seeing him through the canopy as the plane was going down. Laying down on your back, straped down to a seat that is no longer upright and...

P-51 crash at Reno Air Races

It's all about speed! They have been modifying these planes for years with very good results... for over 45 years! If you take computers out of the modern jet fighters and bombers and airliners... you would not have a very stable flying platform...in fact they would not fly at all! These...

P-51 crash at Reno Air Races

Hey Jaguar66! That video is of the Briteling aerobatic crew at the red and white dead line near the west end of the airfield...I was about 100 yards east of them near the V.I.P. lounge and next to the unlimited pit area. The Gold race always start from there on the ramp for start up. Golfcarts...

    A-2 Patches

I totally agree with the cardigankid...it's been my experiance that anytime you "hang" anything on a WWII A2 or G1 flight jacket...it's like a people magnet! Eye candy for the curious...and you WILL get asked about your jacket and what it stands for. After all that's why the airmen put them on...
