Only writer I thought I could make a career from being compared to was Philip K. Dick. Old school sci-fi is quite definately my favourite thing to read after nutrition information on chocolate raisins. Even the titles and first edition cover illustrations make it worth picking them up. "Flow...
Currently: Work in Wales' bigest art and craft shop, have done for the part 6 years
Studying to be: Architectural Technologist (material selectionetc.) hoping to be able to get into conservation of listed buildings coz I'm flipping fed up of them getting knocking down because they've rotted...
My parents were 21 (Mum) and 23 (Dad), the same age as my fiance and I will be.
They've been married 36 years so far. Til death do us part and all that. I can't vouch for my grandparents as I only know my step grampy, but he was about ten years younger than my nana and they were the talk of...
I wish Cardiff had kept something of itself. My mum grew up here in the 50s, and saw rows of Victorian houses (including hers) pulled down in the 60s to build a road that was never built. Some buildings were ruined by the war and pulled own, but most were demolished for developments. The...
Desi Du Lu Lu, i'm all set to try this, but can you give me an idea of how long to curl it for? And what kind of rollers are best? I can't stand trying to dry a wet set for a hundred years before going out. But this I hope just might work, at least well enough for snood curls!
Let down by Clarks, saved by Marks & Sparks
Just bought these a couple of days ago in Marks and Spencer, and they're really comfy and lovely, all squishy inside, but I will say they're so so narrow and small, which is unusual for M&S, so maybe do up a size if you get them online and cant try...
Thanks Red!
I have a moderately sized head (it's not the main reason hats dont work, but oh how I wish my head were smaller), and I have long hair of pretty normal thickness. I'd say the shortest of the front is about armpit length, and there is a bit where I had a fringe, but it doesn't go...
Ok, I know it's a massively old thread but it's the best one

Can anyone suggest how this look is got? Would the central pompom have been seperate or would it have been the ends of the rolled sides? I don't suit hats but this virtually...
Darn it, I thought nothing would rework the ribs. I'm just going to have to do the old fashioned not eating much and then taking the dress to my auntie to adjust if need be. I just hoped, since some girdles come up to high, almost to your bra, that they might squeeze a bit.
The thought of...
Rib reduction?
Does anything have this effect? I have minimal belly lard, my waist is naturally small. I have bought a 50s dress I want to wear as my wedding dress later this year, but it's a little bit too small around my ribs. It limits movement a bit too much for my liking. So, do any of...
Wedding dress questions
Right, I bought the dress at a vintage fair. It was £35 and fitted me pretty well (I plan to ditch some puppy fat I've collected up) which ticked my requirements. it was labelled 1950s, and I was hoping you girls could help my confirm if this is accurate. Right now...
Speaking of vintage fairs, there's a great one run by Blind Lemon Vintage. They are quarterly in about 5 locations, and some things are very very well priced. I bought a 50s wedding dress for £35 last week! Some sellers hike their prices, other are really cheap, but it's worth the £4.50...
Regarding keeping it simple or something more complex...it's a bit tricky. I think I'd say go for simple, as someone more experienced would be more able to advance it themselves than a novice who just bought their first set or hot rollers could simplify it.
Or do two!
I think it's a fab...
For really really starting off, a round neck cardigan and a string of pearls or a brooch, even with blue (not navy or stonewash) jeans can look vintage enough to fool people. Most of my cardigans are from granny shops, not real vintage. That and curls.
Then branch out into skirts if where...
It says she's not been on her myspace since 10/3/2007. Not sure if I'm default UK or US dating system, but at best she's been gone since October!
Hope you guys sort it out and get your credit, but I've no idea what to suggest as how to. Flaming pitchforks?
Schwarzkopf XXL dyes I think just need two parts to be mixed, one bleach, one colour, about 2/3 : 1/3 I think. I used their dye for a pinky streak in my hair, and it's great because you don't have an edge where you bleach to touch up your roots. I don't find it damaging either. By now I'd...
I only wore such long gloves once because of a fancy dress party. I couldn't wear them more than that for a very different reason to a watch or bracelet. I have a little puddle of fat at the top of each arm, leading to elbow overhang. My arms get a muffin top if gloves pass my elbow...
I'm really curious now too, and annoyingly I'm getting a message to say her web page cannot be displayed. This is the most terrible service you can get from any seller. Maybe she's had the police catch up with her for stealing people's money and that's why she's not responding to anyone?
A full Victoran outfit
The red one in the Museum of Costume in Bath. I want it, I want it, I want it. I can't find a picture of it, but it reminds me of the green outfit that bird wears in Bram Stoker's Dracula. I have a feeling it's Winonna Ryder, but I'm not sure. Anyway, it has the...
I didn't do too well, didn't do too badly, thanks to my fiance.
We went to a vintage fair in November, and he bought me a beautiful pearl collar that weighs a ton but is so comfy to wear, and I told him I'll wear it on our wedding day (he proposed to me the day he bought it), and a vintage...
