    Nice fan! I'm more of an Emerson Silver Swan type of guy myself, but I love seeing any vintage fans in use. And I'm sure there were isolated cases of kids hurting their fingers in fans, but in general I bet they had more common sense than kids today do. I just hate the CYA policy businesses...

    Route 66 -- That is a great choice for historic place/building -- and that little motel is so cute. I hate when perfectly good buildings are leveled like that though, especially when they survived intact for so long.

    Oh, I would love to find an old stucco exterior, streamline house for sale -- that I could afford! I would probably paint some of the walls a steely blue grey. Agreed though, for an early 20s house, it was much more common and likely to have wallpaper up.

    Agreed, Shorpy is a great site. I have a penchant for the lovely girls of the 20s, so I always have to check in there for any "new" photos with female subject matter. Funny how some of the Shorpy commentators fall in love with those 100+ year old gals!

    Interesting topic. I found a four piece Wheary suitcase set from the 30s awhile back, which would lead me to believe a couple should be able to pack all they need in 3 or 4 pieces -- if they packed well.

    So interesting! I love to see things like this that are fleeting, and rarely documented. I was struck by the images showing huge signs on the roofs of relatively small buildings.

    Well, someday I would love to own a vintage 30s Tudor style home, but the only ones we could afford barely had 1600 sq.ft., so we ended up in a newer home with vintage furniture and clothing.

    I felt the same way, but because I have so many watches, I decided to take the plunge and bought a fairly nice watch repair kit for around $30 on ebay, I believe. The only tricky part is some casebacks are harder than others to pop off. Otherwise, it was money well spent.
