    Alley Kat Hat Co

Thank you Eric and ManofKent! The more I wear it, the more I love this hat. Tim did a perfect job on it. Steve

    Alley Kat Hat Co

Here's my custom Cane's Creations. Tim did a great job, and he's fantastic to work with. This lid is about 4" at the front pinch and 2 3/8" brim. May not be the best picture to show it off (my youngest daughter had enough of the heat), but it's what I've got at the moment. Steve

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

My Cane's Creations Not sure I'm the best model for it, but Tim at Cane's Creations made this beautiful rabbit felt lid for me. About 4" at the front pinch and a 2 3/8 brim. Very nice custom hat. Excuse my daughter's expression. She doesn't do well in the heat, and it was HOT today at our...

    Alley Kat Hat Co

^^Fantastic hat Jeff! Love that color. It looks great on you. Here are a couple of shots of my hat, courtesy of Tim. It's a pecan rabbit with a 2 3/8 brim and a crown pinched at around 4 inches. I'm trying to decide on a couple of ribbon colors. Let me know what you think and prefer. Ain't...

    Alley Kat Hat Co

I just wanted to give some recognition to Tim. He has been excellent to work with as he creates a custom hat for me, and has graciously kept me updated on where he is on the process. He is also a super nice guy. I can't wait to see the final product. Steve

Ever been compared to an animated character?

When I was in high school in the 1980s, I was once compared to Hermey the elf. It must have been the hair: Steve

    Post New Hats Here!

I'm having Tim of Cane's Creations make me a custom lid, but I picked up this much-maligned Stetson Three Forks Gun Club hat from Cabela's for $89 shipped. At that price, I couldn't pass it up. The brim needs some work, but I snapped this picture as soon as I unboxed the hat. I like lower crowns...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Great pictures Job, nice hats and great story! You and your son make a fantastic pair. Really enjoy perusing this thread. Lots of amazing hats on display. I'm also impressed with the Montecristi, the amazing Optimo's and other straw hats I've seen. You guys wear them well. Steve

Been a while: trying to decide between Cabela's Stetson and Borsalino Casual Crusher

Thanks again carldelo, and thanks to you Hoyt! Much appreciated. I'm actually checking with a custom hatter to see what he can do for me since my requirements are somewhat unique. If that doesn't work, the Cabela's hat comes to about $89 with my gift card and other discounts, so I figure even if...

Been a while: trying to decide between Cabela's Stetson and Borsalino Casual Crusher

I think carldelo nailed my perspective on this choice. It really comes down to crown height and brim width for me, as well as budget. I've tried hats with 2-1/2" brims and they look too big on my head (so, in hindsight, that rules out the Cabela's hat anyway). This leaves me with no Akubra hats...

Been a while: trying to decide between Cabela's Stetson and Borsalino Casual Crusher

Thanks Rick. After doing more research, I kind of like the Stetson Chatham. Too bad there doesn't seem to be an Akubra that's close to that hat's dimensions, other than the Stylemaster, which has a wider brim and taller crown. Or, is there an Akubra equivalent to the Chatham and I just haven't...

Been a while: trying to decide between Cabela's Stetson and Borsalino Casual Crusher

Thanks Duper (Mike) and Rick! Lots of good info. When I researched the Stylemaster, I was concerned about the crown height, but maybe that concern was unfounded? From looking at pictures, the Akubra hats (most of them anyway) always seem to have tall crowns. Rick, just researched that Olney and...

Been a while: trying to decide between Cabela's Stetson and Borsalino Casual Crusher

Hi everyone! It has been a while since I've posted on FDL, but I do drop in every once in a while to lurk. Anyway, I want to get another fedora, but I have some relatively unique preferences -- a brim at or less than 2 1/2" and a lower crown (definitely no more than 4" at the front). I'm also...

For the Gentleman / Ladies of slighter stature.

As posted on my Facebook page, a quote from the great Paco Ravini -- "Your stature as a man is measured much like the tasty ravioli -- not by the size of the shell, but by the quality of the stuffing."

Jackets for the smaller guy -- 5'7" tall and shorter

Great information, thanks guys! Todd, I love the vintage leather look, but one thing I'm not crazy about the A2s is the gathered bottom and knit sleeve ends. So, I prefer open bottom and open sleeves. A while back -- pre-divorce (ugh) -- I did purchase a Gibson and Barnes Expedition in 38S. It...
