    Yeah size sure does matter. Not long ago I bought a Stetson for $80 Buy-It-Now that the seller mislabeled on size. It was sold as a small to medium hat but ended up as a 7-3/8. I threw it back on ebay correctly labeled and got $200 for it! Sheese.

    Yes, as I understood it, it was because of the stuff they spray the hats with. Sometimes the brushes get a bit of color on them and if you use a dark brush on a light hat, a darker shading can be transferred to the hat.     This is a FACT of life. No matter what, you'll never know the comfort and fit of any hat until it is sitting on your head. "Sizes" are just a suggestion, a starting point from where to figure the best hat fit.

    I often find that I run toward the small end of Stetson sizing. In some manufacturers I wear a 7-1/8, but invariably a Stetson size 7 fits me best.

    I have also been intrigued that at one time Stetson even numbered its bow styles! I don't imagine we will ever get a handle on that because it seems only the early 1900s hats have a bow note and many seem to be bowlers.
