This Tilley retails for $66 and is khaki with olive under the brim:

Mine is a 7 1/8 but here's a giant size 8 for sale (overpriced IMO) on ebay...
It's not so much the brim but the high crown. I have a Montecristi fedora, in which I look okay. I was thinking about the Bailey safari or another similar casual "outback" type hat, but my wife and son reminded me I don't look good in hats.
I'm not ready to give up on hats just yet, but...
Thanks again for your kind words; however both my wife and son said I don't look good in this hat and I have to agree. Apparently, I don't have much of a hat face. As much as I'd really like to keep the Dobbs and wear it, I'm going to sell it on ebay.
I did a search, but can't seem to...
For some reason it's amazing to me that the name of the hat is the cost, but Snrbfshn said essentially the same thing. Considering the hat's about 50 years old, it was relatively expensive at the time.
What's the phrase when you have unexpected good luck?..."stepped in shit?"
Well, it...
Thanks for the kind words everyone.
What's the significance of the "forty"? I've read on other posts various hats are "twenty" and there's also an "x" rating.
Thanks Marc! I was about to pass on it as the creases in the crown seemed asymetrical and even though my Monticristi is a 7 1/8, this was a tad tight. The moth bites also concerned me, but I figured, what the heck, it's only $20.
Do you think I need to do anything to this hat like have it...
Actually my second. I bought a Montecristi a while back, but this is my first cloth hat. $20 off craigslist, it's a Dobbs 5th Avenue Forty. The fellow said his father and someone before him bought it in the 1950's or earlier and wore it a few times on stage for a burlesque show.
A...
Got your email, thanks.
If it's 15, then this should do it.
I have to measure my feet to see if the shoes will fit. I'll get back to you once I get hold of a tape measure or ruler.
Well, I did spend some time on FAQ and searching this site but haven't been able to find out how to get PM privileges. It appears there are other privileges I'm not permitted either.
I'll keep checking, but if anyone reading this and who knows, would be so kind, a bit of help would be much...
Very nice hat! I'm also looking for a 7 1/8 so if you find anything else, please feel free to post it or LMK.
Even though I've been a member here for some time, I only own one hat (Monticristi) and am looking for something similar to this one.
Of course, I'm looking for a "steal", low...
I don't know much about older watches except I have a Lord Elgin I bought at a flea market over 20 years ago and enjoy wearing it. It looks a bit like the Hamilton. I like the shape of the Gruen. How much are you asking?
I have a versace 40R NWT but gotta check and see if it's double vented.
How tall are you and what's your torso vs. let proportion. Often a regular will do just fine if the sleeves are taken up. If your torso is short, then a regular length will be too long.
Check this one out...
I know you're familiar with clothing from the SF, so you obviously have your reasons for needing a suit that's MTM. For the best bang for the buck, if you have a good alterations tailor, go on eBay and get yourself a brand new Hickey Freeman for the same price. Canvas construction, horn...
Are the hats you're selling on special (e.g., $99 for 500 weave) ebay hats, made by younger more inexperienced weaves, or are they made by more experienced weavers?
