Suit Worn by Chris Pine in Wonder Woman

Doubtless made specifically for as part of the normal wardrobe requirements, will certainly not be a model in any shop.

Help with 30s style made to measure suit

I assume that all the detail including period style pockets (not to current pattern/presence) are planned? How much longer will this suit take, seven months now!

Wearing white tie to a black tie event?

Black tie means ....black tie. It would be crass to wear white tie. You will simply look like a fool and be mistaken for the butler.

    White tie while mourning?

Black armband but there is absolutely no reason to go into purdah, life must carry on.

Detail of suits 1950s esp in UK

Thank you Edward, that is very helpful. I plan to go for as close to authenticity as I can for this one, that's part of the enjoyment I think. So, one inside pocket it will be, no back pocket and a button fly. Yes I'd rather hoped Two Types would have offered his thoughts given he is an...

Detail of suits 1950s esp in UK

I'm looking at getting a 1950s style suit made (decent MTM), but off the rack style, low to mid-price range that the man in the street would have, not MTM/bespoke. Whilst it is easy to judge style it is nigh impossible to pick up detailing which to me is import if it is to be a true 1950s suit...

These are excellent suits and capture the look well. I have never used Steed but their craftsmanship has always impressed me. Are your suits detail in the modern idiom or of the period? I am thinkimg of say inside pockets (breast and ticket only), trousers, flap fob pocket and one flapped back...

Only one inside breast pocket so 1940s > early 1960s.

    Show us your British suits

Does it feature detailing which Americans would expect and which were not commonplace for RTW suits in the UK market at the time - two in-breast pockets, two back pockets etc?

The large inner pocket is reminiscent of a 'poachers pocket' but this is certainly not the sort of suit that would be worn to the guns - legally or otherwise! Odd that someone should have something of that size to carry in the City.

Info Needed: Trouser Pocket Styles - 1930's Suits

By the forties, US trousers would have had two back pockets, British just one. However British would have had a cash pocket - similar to a watch pocket but bigger and with flap/button.

How many inside pockets in the coat? That might help date it - a single breast pocket (only) or and a ticket pocket might date it to the 1950s.

    Date my new jacket?

!960s so hardly vintage at all - just old. The style especially the flapped out-breast pocket fits with that.

How is this suit going? When is the judging, it will be good to see the finished garment and the detailing you have picked?

    My son's first suit

Thanks for doing that - confirms the general thought on detail of suits at that time. I guess some will have had a ticket pocket on the left as well although given that your son has an MTM (at least or bespoke) the original owners preference would be relevant. Does your son use the fob pocket...

    My son's first suit

Very sensible way of getting him his first suit. Saville Row can wait until he is over twenty and tended to stop growing - unless money is not a concern.
