How does a girl keep warm?

Thanks guys! I'm in full prep mode here. Also I found another supplier of warm stockings besides sock dreams--delp stockings. they're a bit pricier than I like, but they look quality, so I'll try a pair :)

How does a girl keep warm?

As a new transplant to the northeast (who got rid of most of her clothes before hand), I'm reviving this thread. Share your new sources for sweaters (wool overs is one of mine) stockings/tights/long underwear, hats, gloves, even cute house slippers :)

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

I just bought one of the nyx matte lip creams today on a whim. it goes on like a gloss, well a mousse really, with a wand. I got san paulo which looks like a dark dusky rose in the tube--a dark "your lips" color, but on me it looks more like a muted Cherries in the snow. Aside from the color...

Copy a pattern or use an original?

Bumping this to let people know that dick blick is a good source for tracing paper. I got a 50yd roll of three foot wide paper, that is thin enough to lay on top of the pattern pieces and trace, but sturdy enough to hold up for quite a while. it was around $20

    Stripping Paint?

I have a really great MCM dining set and it's in great condition, except for the fact that someone painted the top an off white over the original finish (I can tell since it's flaking around the edges and they didn't do the underside completely) Will the Soygel stuff remove the original finish...

    Dying bras

It all just depends on the type of fabric that the bra is made of, and which dye brand you use. I know you can dye nylon using Rit, but not polyester. I believe there are available dyes for polyester though. if that bra is cotton or rayon or silk based it's also no problem. If it's a poly-blend...

    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

I bought these Michelle D one's a few weeks ago in red, they feel like memory foam for my feet! http://www.dillards.com/product/Michelle-D-Darlene-PeepToe-Mary-Janes_301_-1_301_503734108?df=03986138_zi_black

    The Hair Tutorials thread

My hair is maybe 3 inches longer than hers but much thicker. When I use sponge rollers (the pink ones)---which is my typical go to since it's easiest for me and lasts the longest--I have to brush out a lot more than she seems to in her tutorial, or else I look like an escaped patient from a...

Excuse me Miss, do you Blog?

So I started a blog--my first "formal" experience with internet sharing. After some of my friends from school asked me if I had one I decided to make a fashion/vintage sewing blog to catalogue and share everything I've been learning, and to raise my self esteem a bit since I am very camera shy...

    Show Us Your Purchases!

I just won this set of three patterns off of ebay. I'm really excited since they're my first vintage pattern purchase and because it has the perfect pattern for a Swirl alike! For some reason the photo didn't post, but here is a link to the image: http://www.flickr.com/photos/venusop/8660133051/

Who Wore it Best: Recycled Costume Edition

This was great, thanks for sharing it! I was always amazed at the number of costumes on Downton Abbey--everything makes much more sense now that I know they're recycling it all. And I think Michelle Dockery wins most of those battles.

    "Super Rollers," your experiences?

I've been a lurker for a while and am finally getting around to posting (hello everyone :) ). Anyway, I've searched through a lot of the hair styling/ roller threads and haven't found any mention of these rollers : http://www.sallybeauty.com/flexible-rods/HAIRAR4,default,pd.html?cgid=Hair14-01 ...
