I just found out this evening that Lt Col James Goodson passed on May 1. He was 93. He was laid to rest in Bourne National Cemetery on May 9.

Since a lot of us are having fun posting what our favourite WWII aircraft is on another thread, I thought I'd start a thread pertaining to WWII aircraft of which there are no examples currently flying. What rare (and / or not flying) WWII aircraft would you like to see in the air?
I'll start...
Because of unexpected car bills, I'm parting with a few pieces from my collection. This is a custom Knox US Army Officer's service cap in size 7 1/8.

While walking my dogs during a particulary sharp cold spell I was thinking that I should have a cap with ear protection. My thoughts immediately fell to the USAAF B-2 cap, and I went online to check prices. I was looking at Eastman's B-2s when I noticed that they had a B-2 style cap made to...

The two teenagers got to the cemetery first. He wore his dark green dress uniform from the National Guard. She wore a long black dress. They stood on the edge of the road, across from rows of matching...
I've had a number of enquiries about refinishing Civilian Defense helmets over the past year. Most people have asked "How much to refinish my helmet?", and some have asked for pointers on how to refinish theirs. As a result, I've decided to post a step-by-step tutorial on how to refinish a CD...
This was a bit of an experiment. I decided that I should have a leather jacket to help protect me in case I should wipe out while riding one of my motorized bikes. However, being on a budget, I decided to look at the "Harbor Freight" of clothing, Haband.
I duly ordered this leather jacket, in...
A friend of mine (and soon to be Lounger once he's approved) wanted me to post that he has a nice woman's prewar Rollfast for sale. It will be on display at the reenactor's area at the Geneseo Airshow on July 11-13. It's complete, and the seat and tires shown in the photo have been replaced...
The Office of Civilian Defense needs you!
Well actually, Kilroy's Homefront Commandos needs you. Kilroy's Homefront Commandos is perhaps the only organized Civilian Defense Living History group in the US. (If there are any other groups, I'd really like to hear from them.) We are always...

Donald S. Lopez, 84, author, aviator, and deputy director of the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum (NASM) in Washington, D.C., died of a heart attack on March 3. Lopez joined the Smithsonian in 1972 as part of the team that planned the NASM, which opened in July 1976. "The...
Many people have seen the Steve Mc Queen movie, "The Great Escape", at least once. It's one of my favourites. This is about that tunnel.
This is a fascinating look at a tunnel that was built in an "escape proof" German POW Camp, a tunnel which allowed 76 Allied POWs to escape. Check it...
Our friend Samantha (retrogirl1941) is getting married on Saturday, February 16 to her fiancee Nate. It's a themed wedding, with all attending being asked to wear 1930s through '50s era clothing styles. She has even cajoled me into wearing my RAF uniform, though it's tropical khaki drill...
Last November Retrogirl1941 and I (along with another friend) participated in a photo shoot at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, PA. Some of these photos are now available for viewing online. We're in some of the b&w photos, and I'm the one in the cardigan wearing a Fedora...
Okay Loungers, what is your biggest vice? Here's mine:
Oh wait a minute, that's a vise, not a vice. Oops, sorry! lol
I guess if a warped sense of humour is a vice, that's mine. However, I've heard other "vices" than smoke, drink or gambling put forth, such as chocolate. If that can...
I was looking through OFAS, and I ran across a seller who claims to be a Borsalino dealer, yet has nothing good to say about them. On a trilby he writes: "While this auction is for the Genuine Borsalino Trilby and we are Borsalino dealers, it is a piece of crap hat. Total junk as all the...
Hi all, first let me say that I'm not a vendor, but I did come across a good deal on a bunch of driving caps at a recent auction. Here's the latest group I've posted on feePay, uh, I mean eBay: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZspitfire14c
There are a couple of Harris Tweeds, a couple of...
