Oh, so I bet they just hate any vintage recreation of the prohibition era. Terrible and completely illegal. I'm sure they turn away anybody who shows up at the door dressed like Al Capone.
Like in this picture I posted here a few months back?
Heh. One chap was wearing a Junker helmet this year because he'd worn his pith helmet in 2014, hoping to stand out, only to find a whole squadron's worth of us wandering around.
But there were still plenty of good examples being worn.
I spent the first half of the day with a home-made...
There is some lovely Irish tweed out there. Found this in a vintage stall in Herne Hill market a few months ago, for a friend:
The only mark in it was this:

So I plan to run at least one repeat of the Speyside distilleries cycling tour I led last year. You can see how it went (and how beautiful the region I grew up in) from the Flickr album. It was a three day event. Our planned...
I will be on the marshal team again unless some monstrous diary clash intervenes. As for the pith helmet, of which I was sporting the older Foreign Service model, I find no restriction on head movement at all. It was originally designed for the cavalry, after all. I can see how it might knock...
This year we had some ridiculous constraints imposed on us by TFL. We had to do many, many hours of extra work to cope with that and to show due diligence. But we've been running this event since 2009 and can cope. The day went very well and was very rewarding. It makes so many people happy.
I *think* you must be talkling to me, only because neither of the two gorgeous people on that page are relevant to these details. So... I'm wearing plus twos. Shorter overlap than plus fours. Plus fours are fine for walking around in but plus twos are better for cycling. The socks I got from...
LadyBaltimore, it was the 2015 London Tweed Run. I'm the head marshal for the event. My pictures are here, although I'm always too busy to take many. Lots more pictures from many people will be turning up on the Net over the next week. Here are some from one of my marshals.
After I found the source for that picture, I searched for any other cycling pictures in the archive and was amazed by what I found. I was particularly impressed the shot of a family out riding, the lady armed for bear.
As quite a few of you know, the London Tweed Run is taking place on Saturday 18th April this year. Tickets sold out very quickly, but we are still looking for a few marshals to complete our roster. If you are useful on a bicycle and can spare a few evenings (or a couple of Sunday mornings) to...
Great choice! I have those. Very, very comfortable for long writes if you get the lace tension right all the way down the shoe. If you don't, hotfoot pain. Ladder lacing works with me, with a double slip knot at the top to keep those laces out of the chain ;)
