Vintage style hiking/active wear, especially shoes/boots?

I haven't been out in vintage in quite some time, but I wear plain (modern - but classic styling) brown leather mountaineering boots when we do certain types of hiking. Otherwise, I do everything in canvas tennis shoes otherwise. I hike, trail run, shop, everything, in classic canvas shoes. I...

    Essentials of a 40's Party

Well, out here in CO, I think things were a little bit more easy. Pretty agricultural in most areas at that time. I was also thinking somethings like maybe pickled beans and the like. That might have been on hand.

I guess Coors it is. Too bad it is not a better beer... Maybe we will be creatively anachronistic and get some "regional" microbrews... :) I might call up my great uncle and see who he used to sell potatoes to - he had chip contracts for his potato farming.

    What vintage won't you wear?

Oh I would wear pretty much anything once! :) Twice if I liked it! ;) But then again mom is a costumer and I always said I would love to have at least on look from every single definable era!

    Essentials of a 40's Party

Thanks for some more ideas! Decorating is really a matter of adding details as the pub is all wood with stained glass fixtures over the overhead lighting. The sound system is already hidden, mom was talking about picking up a repro radio, which would be darling. Love the suggestions for...

Excellent! These are good details! You folks are a wealth of knowledge! (Mom will shudder over sardines, but I think they are delish!)

    Essentials of a 40's Party

I will check out that link. Thank you. No need to black out windows, there are not any. Though, they are thinking about having an "air raid" sometime during the evening.

    Essentials of a 40's Party

That is a pretty nicely done blog. We are a little past that point though. I was hoping for a bit more in the way of what the Lounge has to offer in the area of details. For example: My parents have a "pub" in their basement, very little decoration is needed, so my mom is going to hang...

    Essentials of a 40's Party

Today, I have been skimming the threads for anything related to quintessential 40's foods, drinks, etc. I hope I am not out of line starting a new thread, forgive me if I am. My parents are celebrating both their birthdays with one big 40's Wartime Bash. We would love to have some...

Flicka - I am sorry I am just getting to this hat party, could you tell me more about the felt you are starting from? Do you have a picture of the felt cone you are referring to in your blog? I love hats and have several I am in need of making!

    Dita Von Teese

Scrolling through a few back pages of this thread made me feel a lot more "fabulous." I have a pink kitchen and had no idea it was so "chic." ;)

    Amazing! Fabulous! Awesome!

Wasn't suggesting any kind of negativity, in case that was miscunstrued. As a person accused regularly of using words nobody understands, I was just curious, what other words one would find more appropriate, exciting, and expressive. I guess I am the sort of person that appreciates when...

I have not posted in a long time, but there are so many lovely pictures to catch up on, I don't know where to start!! I wanted to share my fun new hair, but I cannot attach files at this time. When I can or I figure out why I can't maybe I can share!

    "Sherlock" BBC series.

For me, I like the Brett series because - I like the actual stories. In my experience they are some of the only screen adaptations that stay true to Doyle's plots. I don't think I really care one way or the other about the people playing the characters, but I get really put off when someone...

Too bootylicious for the Sweater Dress???

I think I could feel okay in a vintage sweater dress, because they are a decent length. I had a more modern one and it looked really cute. But I am heavy in the lower half and it always seemed too short to manage my backside. But they do feel quite different on compared with other clothing...

On the question about Pfaff machines: my mother, while not a professional, sews so much we measure her fabric usage in miles! ;) Anyway, she got a Pfaff a few years back and since then has put the pedal to the metal! She loves her Pfaff. It has been really great for her and she hasn't had to...
