    How long has it been...

I make no guarantees regarding the weight of the cloth, but in addition to the separates RTW option mentioned by Dirk, almost all of the MTM outfits will happily make you another pair of pants as well.

    Vintage Montegue Burton Stroller (38R/40R)

This popped up in my ebay searches last night. Won't fit me, and it's outside of my price range. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1940s-Vintage-Montague-Burton-Tailored-Morning-Suit-3-Piece-Fish-Tail-Back-42-/201608349288?

Ask a question, get an answer [general attire edition]

I haven't done a button on a shortcut or suit jacket, but all but the most recent of the ones I currently own have the thread coming all the way through. I have reattached closure buttons on my overcoat, and those came all the way through and used backing buttons. I've gotta say, I like how...

Question for the tailors: Where to get worsted twill yardage?

Most good-quality fabrics are expensive. You can find them from Mills in England and Italy. There is a thread around here somewhere about vintage fabrics and where to find modern-day stand-ins. It is either in this forum or in the suits forum. You may find some good info there. IIRC...

    Very cool diamond pattern. http://www.ebay.com/itm/301726974369

How Old do You Think This Stanley Blacker Blazer is?

I'd agree early 80's. For interest, the woolmark logo tags first appeared in 1964. Sometimes it helps me with dating when something looks old (but isn't.) :) ETA: ...and I should have looked at page 2. Guttersnipe beat me to it!

RRL Charcoal Twill Tweed Sport Coat 4 roll 3

Too rich for my pocketbook, and it won't fit anyway. It's labeled as a 42R, but the measurements have it more along the lines of a longer 40R or a 38R. http://www.ebay.com/itm/141761085814

DEATHS ; Notable Passings; The Thread to Pay Last Respects

I actually have that single on a 78 RPM record.

Formal Morning Day Wear And Semi - Formal Morning Day Wear?

IIRC, Ladies' formalwear is a little more fast and loose than Mens' formalwear, and I am by no means an expert, but here is what I recall. Evening Wear: Formal (White Tie Equivalent) Full-length (covers ankles) elegant ball gown or evening dress. The rules about the construction of the dress...

Do you wear a suit everyday?

I find a happy medium... I do not generally wear suits, but I also do not wear shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops either. I keep an old Brooks Bros Tweed sport coat at my desk for when the air conditioner enthusiasts crank down the temp to something more akin to my birthplace in April. :D

Do you wear a suit everyday?

Alas, I now live in the Torrid Zone, and all but one of my suits are better, well... suited for the Frozen North where I am originally from. I can wear them in the "winter", and I do occasionally. I wear sport coats more often, but again, they are more suited for colder weather. Also, I work...

1940's Teal DB Suit Size 40

Very neat. I like the caramel-colored buttons on the teal. Judging by the button stance, I'd say maybe early 40's. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271924104577

    Post-30's Belt-Back Bi-Swing Tweed Sport Coat Size 40R or 42R

The Jacket is an LL Bean model, made from Harris Tweed in what looks to be a 2x2 Dogtooth pattern. Looks like it might be a 3/2 or 3/2.5, or maybe it just has curved lapels. :D It's a solid-looking jacket. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151737015648

1930's Pinstripe Peak Lapel Jacket with Issues Size 40R/42R

I know, right? Those are fantastic. I had entertained buying it but even if I lose a few pounds, I could still only just get into it. That would be fine, so long as I didn't have to move or breathe. :D

1930's Pinstripe Peak Lapel Jacket with Issues Size 40R/42R

Found this Jacket... It has some issues, and may be a bit pricey to have it rewoven. Could be used as a pattern or for reference. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151737013911

Please help identify this 'suit liner'

Looks a bit like a snowsuit -- Could be a waterproof coverall for working in conditions where you don't want to expose your regular clothes to whatever you're working in.
