Review of Nobles Houses M-444 (445?)

Great quote, Paden. Assuming your grandmother was german, how did she say it auf Deutsch? Is it a common saying? And I have to register my shock and horror at the use of velcro on this jacket. I can't believe anyone would knowingly buy a vintage repro at any cost that used velcro.

ALL REPRO R.A.F. Irvin type jackets

Thanks, Cam. I wasn't so much wondering about issues (though the sturdiness/thickness observation is interesting to consider) as the suitability of the WPG as a guide in selecting the proper size of ELC jacket. I believe you have a 44 of each, correct? Would you consider them to be pretty...

Cam, You've told us that the WPG is "floppier", do you have any additional sizing observations to share? Sleeve length in comparison, overall length, etc? I imagine there are a few of us WPG owners looking to upgrade that would find the information useful. Thanks!

Are you certain of this? The synthetic tape is textured and looks very similar to the leather used on the zipper pulls, but if you compare them closely you can see the difference--look especially at the edges. Also when it wears (happened on the belt first on mine), there is an ugly gray color...

ELC LATE WAR MULTI-PANELED IRVIN 44

Oooh, I really wish this was the standard fleece color. Beautiful jacket, though. Good luck with the sale!

    Exchange Rate?

Anyone see the rate today? Looks like another new (past 5 years or so) high for the dollar: http://www.x-rates.com/d/GBP/USD/graph120.html

WPG vs ELC This is a long shot, but has anyone had the opportunity to compare sizes between ELC and What Price Glory Irvins? Are they comparable? Is one bigger than the other?

ALL REPRO R.A.F. Irvin type jackets

Hey Hawk Eye, Are you ordering directly from ELC or going through HistoryPreservation.com? I've read here and there that ELC refers inquiries from our side of the pond to History Preservation, but there's a hell of a markup--especially with exchange rates as they are now. Just curious what...

    Exchange Rate?

I pulled the trigger on a Belstaff Classic Tourist Trophy I've been resisting for some time last night. I've got one already, and have been very happy with it aside from it being just a bit too large. This one, a size smaller, will cost me about a third less than the last one! Still debating...

    Exchange Rate?

I'm definitely keeping one eye on the exchange rates and another eye on an ELC Irvin! I guess there's a silver lining to some disasters. http://www.x-rates.com/d/GBP/USD/graph120.html

Thanks! Just ordered up a round of dressing, antique dressing, and boot oil. Can't wait to try it out. Here's the U.S. link if anyone's interested: http://www.pecard.com/ (not that it's super-challenging to find)

LUFTWAFFE jackets - Eagles who Dare to Wear..!

In a related question--though I'm curious about the supply of originals as well--anybody with experience with this reproduction care to comment on it in terms of quality/accuracy? from these guys: http://www.original-fliegerjacken.de/

After years of mixed success with Fiebing's neatsfoot, I'm ready to make the leap to something else. Is Pecard's suitable for shoes and boots as well?

Learning how to make my own A-2

Wow, was there some complicated calculus involved in the resizing? Like, add 10% to width and 3.2% to height, or do you just expand out equally in all directions? Do you just try to make sure that seam to seam sizes for contiguous pieces add up to your measurements? Fascinating project...

LUFTWAFFE jackets - Eagles who Dare to Wear..!

I've heard nothing good about Noble House's product, unfortunately. I think someone mentioned that their service is good, though. It does look like a decent copy of the original jacket they depict beneath it, but seems to differ substantially from HJM's jacket. Photos of his jacket seem to...

    Hellboy's duster coat

The first movie was pretty decent, and I have high hopes for the second. Any of you who like the movies and haven't seen the comics need to drop what you're doing right now and head on down to your nearest comic book store and snag some of Mike Mignola's gorgeous artwork. Not only does the guy...

IRVIN NUTS?...the ULTIMATE thread for those who love 'em!

Thanks for posting that, Baron! I've seen the image before, but it was a much-manipulated backdrop for a web page feature. This one's nice and clean, a great shot!
