Yes the reason why I removed the binding was not just because I prefer raw edges, but to make the brim slightly smaller. In fact I've read somewhere here that one could cut along the binding (as a guide) but - after done it the way I did - I believe it's best to remove the binding and go along... -

Yes but to avoid disappointment, I wouldn't show that Borsalino creasing video to someone who is waiting for a Campdraft. There is no way you can do that to a dry CD (or even wet for that matter). I've been creasing mine endlessly in search of the 'organic crease' that Anthony easily obtains... -

That Borsalino in the video has never been creased before, and looks brand new to me... certainly not vintage (?) In other words if I buy a Borsalino 'Alessandria' right now from a shop, do I get the same pliability? But if I buy any other Borsalino (new) I don't? -

I got my Campdraft from everythingaustralian, it took about a week from AU to Europe (no taxes). The price is only US$99. You could consider that instead of the $$$$ Stetson. I don't think the 'Deluxe' CD is much different from regular, same rabbit felt. In fact, I bought the CD after returning... -

Why do you wear a fedora or cap?
Personally I wear fedoras because I am bold, my head is always cold! Plus I have discovered that they keep rain and wind and low sun out of my face/eyes/glasses AND ears, so I never go anywhere without a hat.... don't even own an umbrella anymore! It is a very practical garment and I am all... -

I have a Stylemaster, an Angler and a Campdraft and live in a very rainy country so they get wet almost every day. No shrinkage at all, actually I now have a cork strip in my Stylemaster. -

Measuring like that does not mean much, you're overthinking it. If the fits is too small to leave a mark on your forehead, or if it feels uncomfortable, you can easily stretch a full size up with a hat jack. Also if the hat is new, it will sort of 'self-adjust' to your head, which is not... -

Akubra stiffness
No company nowadays can manufacture hats with the same quality of vintage. In the past they would use processes and chemicals (mercury etc.) not even allowed now. So it's not fair saying Akubras are overrated (here or elsewhere). To me, they make the best 'modern' hats among their competitors... -

Akubra stiffness
I reverted my recent (stiff) Campdraft to its original shape and filled it with a towel, then started poking at it with my fingertips, pushing, pinching etc. for a good hour (maybe more, it's relaxing LOL). Now the crown is a lot softer and in fact I can even quickly dry crease it. -

You will be pleased! I got mine three days ago and already tried two different creases, softened it etc. it's a lot of fun! I think all hats should be open crown!
