The Dyer just looks to be a simple belt holster. Extra leather on the top of the holster is there to protect clothing and "extra skin". Pocket holster for a SAA. Works great. This one is only 40 years old ;) But the style dates back to the 1880s.

5 out of six mechanical watches holding atomic time +/-1 spc and well inside COSC chrono specs. The 6th still inside COSC chronos specs!

    Let's see your mechanical watches

Great time to be alive in the mechanical watch world! I mentioned the PT5000 Chinese movement above, encased in titanium with a titanium bracelet. I have two of the watches now both running at better than COSC chrono time on my wrist or being hand would in my desk top watch box. Simply...

    Let's see your mechanical watches

This one came as a surprise. The Chinese PT5000 movement has been impressive. It is a more recent clone of the Swiss 2824-2. This one is running @ a steady +1/2 second a day and has since I put it on my wrist. The IXDAO time keeping is much better than my new Tudor 39 and its COSC chrono...

Another NH35 regulated to COSC chrono specs. An acquired taste for sure and not without some breathing issues  But once sorted these things could get addictive ;)

    Let's see your mechanical watches

This one is a close "clone", Chinese copy of the Tudor FXD and literally the best $160.00 I have ever spent on a mechanical watch. Helps that I like it a tiny bit better than my Tudor FXD for a few reasons and love the attributes of the T-F watches that I own. The lume, over all visual clarity...

Determining the age of a Sombrero?

I'm guessing they are still around $250 depending on how fancy you want it. RJ is great to work with. You can reach him through his FB page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/122905711837

Determining the age of a Sombrero?

Fun stuff. If you look into it you'll find that very likely the most common hat that went up the trail from Texas to Montana in the 1870s was a Sugarloaf sombrero. Tough as nails, cool in the heat, warm in the cold. After 2000 trail miles, eating dust from a herd, everything from saddles to...

Determining the age of a Sombrero?

John, I do believe your sombrero is a much more modern Charro sombrero, typical the modern, current style. At best the 1960s or later and if you are lucky it is made of decent beaver felt. Neat hat! Sombrero Charro de Lana. Color Gris Obscuro 7-3/8 Americano 59 mex – Los Capomos Modern...

Determining the age of a Sombrero?

What is this? You have a very high quality and by comparison a very expensive fur felt Sombrero. Very likely a beaver felt. Still a very common hat sold in Mexico to Charros and true Vaquero horsemen. The big difference is the high quality of the older felt. Quality of the trim and hat band...

Determining the age of a Sombrero?

FWIW, Mitchum and Nelson's lids were sugar laof sombreros. Totally different animals. Mitchum in the "Wonderful Country" Willie in "Barbarosa"

1984 Submariner. Back yesterday from a 3 week refurbish at RSC, Dallas. Its first in 40 years. Watch was running fine when I sent it out. Running at +2spd currently with a 2 year warranty on parts and labor. Same guarantee the watch came with when new. I didn't count seconds in '84, so no...

Deacon, the funny part is, the holster is 2 years old, the belt 24 years old and the dbl mag pouch is 40 years old. The 1911 is now 24 years old as well. Hard to believe I am the original owner of all of them. Time flies.

Not sure if I have showed this one prior. Smith Everest. Obvious copy of an Explorer I. Fun watch with a Miyota 9039 movement.
