    Let's see your mechanical watches

Longines Silver Arrow. This is the 2020 reissue of the 1950's original, which was also reissued in 2009. So, it's a reissue of a reissue.

    Quality, leather briefcases & luggage

I've got a bag that looks good and is durable, the Tilley Intrepid. It holds around 600c.i. and fits under an airline seat. It wasn't what I'd call affordable but seems to be a 'buy it for life' kind of thing. Here it is after five years hard use: It still looks more or less the same as the...

    Fair Trade Rollable Panama?

Good to know and thank you. Glancing at their site, it seems they have an extensive range. So that's my evening reading taken care of.

    Fair Trade Rollable Panama?

Good day All, Hoping that the good folks here chip in with their advice as the title question. I'm currently in the MENA region where the sun beats down mercilessly nine months of the year and a hat is a necessity. The only headgear I can find hear is the type I've never (and never will) wear...

    James Bond's hat(s)?

Lock & Co- 'Sandown' I realise this thread is old, but being a Bond fan and also wanting to know what model hat Connery wore I stumbled across this article : http://www.jamesbondlifestyle.com/index_clothing.php?m=cl&g=cl038 The hat is the 'Sandown' model by Lock & Co. And apparently if...

    Abandoned air fields in England

Stumbled across this article earlier: http://www.urbanghostsmedia.com/2009/09/deserted-air-force-bases/ A bit brief, but some good aerial photography. In fact it's a pretty interesting website for anyone with an interest in old, neglected buildings.

75 lost films found in New Zealand

John Ford classic Dhermann, you beat me to it! I was about to post this too. Apparently, amongst this treasure trove there is also a long-lost John Ford classic: http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2010/jun/07/john-ford-movie-new-zealand?CMP=AFCYAH

    WWII Espionage

MI9 Escape & Evasion, 1939-45, by M.R.D. Foot To be honest there's not a whole lot of espionage in this, but it does tell the story of MI9, a branch of the British Intelligence Services in WW2 that were mainly concerned with inventing & issuing escape equipment to secret agents, RAF crew and...

    Pugaree or Pleated Hatband Pattern

But how much and how wide? I found this thread very helpful, and thank you to all who contributed as I want to give my Sunbody a safari style. But, as the title asks, how much material would I need and what would be the recommended width of the material? Also, due to the overlapping, would a...

    THE SUNBODY ASSOCIATION

Safari? OK, so my open 5" crown with 3" brim is on the way. I am toying with the idea of leaving the brim width alone and maybe give it a Safari style by turning the brim down slightly back and front and adding a puggaree. After all, this is going to be my summer hat. Has anyone else done...

    THE SUNBODY ASSOCIATION

Agreed, I don't want a dressy straw, but a knockaround, casual lid. Update: Changed my order to an open crown (5") with a 3" brim. I'm looking forward to having fun shaping and reshaping 'til I get it right.

    THE SUNBODY ASSOCIATION

Just did! Yes, they're very nice, helpful people to deal with. I'm going for a fine palm fedora, 5 1/2" crown, 3" brim. The reason for the brim being wider than I originally wanted is because it's a sale item, and as it's my first I'd rather not spend too much 'til I decide if I like the look or...

    THE SUNBODY ASSOCIATION

Which Sunbody? I'm thinking of buying my first Sunbody and I have found this thread very useful, for instance I now know to add on a cm in size. to allow for shrinkage! My questions are: What height is the crown on the standard fedora? High crowns suit me best, so I'm thinking a 5" crown...

What do you use to shave?

No After Shave I used to use single blade disposables, then splash after shave all over, and would get a terrible stinging rash on my neck. I finally upgraded to a Fusion razor, but still got the rash. Eventually, for my brain works but slowly, I figured out it was the (expensive) After Shave...

    They've gone too far.

I have a couple of vintage straight razors, but never had the guts to use them. Think I'll stick with the Fusion, I haven't managed to cut myself with it yet, and it does shave close, no rash either. :D
