    Looking for good quality neckerchief

In the summer months we tend to get requests for cotton or cotton/linen mixes. In colder months silk ascot squares are popular.

    Hallmarks of a good tie.

Corky, Softly, gently & politely, I think something got lost in the translation of the story that you were told as the information is simply not correct. It is a sartorial urban myth. There are a number of reasons why it is not correct: Ack-Ti Lining which is the American interlining...

    Hallmarks of a good tie.

Ethan Bentley, You have received lots of good advice in this thread. A few observations: Pure wool is used in luxury lined ties although on occasion some makers will use something else. I think Corky is confusing the practice of layering pure cotton on top of wool with something...

    Vintage tie research help needed

Have you ever seen anything from old magazines or newspapers that has pictures or information on unlined seven-fold ties from before the 1980s? Or even an actual old seven-fold tie? I am starting to think that old seven-folds are an urban myth. I wonder what the collective wisdom is...

    Traditional Thai silk making

IndianaGuyBrush, Thank you for the encouragement. I will need some help from Fedora Lounge members in terms of the length, width and shape of the ties. Sadly the thrift shops in Denver rarely if ever seem to have vintage ties, so I don't have any prototypes to study.

Vox Audi, Thank you for your kind words. Do you ever wear vintage ties in the short wider style? I have been thinking about making ties in vintage shapes as an experiment in the spring Thanks again!

    Traditional Thai silk making

I loved the show your tie thread. At the moment I don't have any vintage ties, so the next best thing is to try and make some pocket squares and neckties that are inspired by the classics. At the moment we can weave solids, stripes and plaids. Noina is experimenting with marbling...

    Determining Felt quality?

Is beaver the best for hot summer days? Or would a wool hat be best for that? (leaving straw and cotton out for the moment)

Giant Pith Helmet Thread of Doom

Sharpetoys, Thank you very much for the website! I like your choice but I may go with the Indian style for memories sake. Although the French one looked good and has the biggest brim according to the description. Thanks again!

Giant Pith Helmet Thread of Doom

Pith helmets online? I am looking for a pith helmet to wear on summer hikes. Years ago I lived in India and had a great pith helmet but I can't remember the brand name. It probably was made in India but I am not sure. It did not look like the old British Africa style helmets. It had a more...
