    Absinthe - Finally tried it

Source of absinthe spoons From the J.Peterman site: The classic French absinthe ritual involves placing a sugar cube on a flat perforated spoon, which rests on the rim of the glass containing a measure or “dose” of absinthe. Iced water is then very slowly dripped on to the sugar cube, which...

Where's the globe trotting hat now?

Glad things are looking up for you Lancealot Now that the hat is moving again, can someone in line post some of the items from the log book that is traveling with the hat. I had the hat in the early days as it passed thru DC, Christmas 2006. We had a visit to the National Christmas tree on...

    A remake from Art

JBS branding iron That is a JBS (John B Stetson) branding iron. It was on the hat along with the feather as a cowboy version and I am keeping both on the hat. However I have repositioned the feather to be entirely behind the ribbon and not obstructing the fantastic Fawcett signature bow.

    A remake from Art

Here is a pic of my Stetson OR that Art did his magic on. Just got it back today, it will be getting a lot of wear this winter and I hope for many to come. http://gallery.mac.com/aquia33#100194/D2X_3841&bgcolor=black

    New fedora aficionado

I think the Orvis Snowy River is a good "bridge hat" with one foot in the traditional fedora style and the other in a more contemporary, modern vein. For those not really "into" vintage it provides an opportunity for them to doff a hat and not look like a 30's Dobbs poster (personally I like...

The "Eddie G" Thanks, that is the "Eddie G" by Master Hatter, Art Fawcett. Art did these 2 years ago and they were a limited edition of 10, this one is number 6.

    New fedora aficionado

I think I snagged a new member to the informal union of hat lovers. A retiring friend, until now hatless, is the new owner of an Orvis Snowy River. I think he was surprised not only with the gift, but how well and natural it looked on him. He will be sporting his new lid in Myrtle Beach away...

Where's the globe trotting hat now?

Sorry for your misfortune... I pray no one was injured in the fire and your most valuable posessions were spared. As Big Man said the hat has had quite an experience, I do hope that it is in the travel log. And a hearty thanks to your neighbor, the hat could just as easily been part of a...

Rules for wearing a straw hat

Not to worry Like there are a ton of people who would be offended by an improper wearing of a straw. The hatless crowd dosen't have a clue as well as the baseball cap guys who can't ever seem to take theirs off (in restaurants). The rest of the population reads posts on this forum and you...

    Resistol OR Imposter

Resistol hats are fine hats unto themselves... I think that "imposter" is just a little harsh, Resistol made a fine hat and did not need to pose as anything or anyone else. To my suprise, John Wayne, JR Ewing and LBJ's hat were Resistol and not Stetson's...

Flower color I seem to remember from high school proms etc. that white carnations indicated that your mother had passed away and red/pink indicated she was alive.

    Who Made This Hat?

Fedora data base I don't believe that such a resource exists and I believe it would be a hugh undertaking to create. I suspect a highly formatted community wiki would produce the quickest results, but the data would not be validated and highly suspect, but a start anyway. Perhaps...
