I have a Chaps RL peak lapel morning coat ~ $40 shipped CONUS. The coat is a true 44R, black worsted wool (NOT herringbone) and has no issues. The coat was not designed with cuff buttons and it is missing the side seam that is considered correct. This is an ex-hire from ebay. The closing...
I cracked up when I saw a still photo of him waving around a shotgun with a pipe in his mouth. I've tried shooting a side by side while smoking a pipe; it really never turns out well.
I have a white tie outfit I've worn once. The large butterfly tie that I ordered from the UK was annoying to tie, and looked way to big. Also, the metal adjuster seemed VERY visible on the side of my collar. Recalling the slim batwing white ties on TV shows like "Downton Abbey", I decided to...
More info on this hat
...it is a Cavanagh edge, much nicer than the bound edge on a new Biltmore I got last year.
The liner looks more like oilskin to me, since the lettering is opaque, not clear.
Unbashed, the height of the hat is 5"
Inside diameter is 22 3/8", the brim is 1 3/4 wide
No size marked, but it is about a 7 1/8 to 7 1/4.
Overall condition is good, sweatband is a bit loose, but overall in fine vintage condition. PM if interested.
$40 shipped CONUS.
I've got a new Biltmore Centercrease in 7 5/8. Yours for $80 shipped in the US lower 48.
See http://www.bencrafthats.com/product.php?pid=32&subcname=Biltmore
I'm out of town until 11/8, though.
Thinking about getting this one from the Village Hat Shop.

Any comments on Bollman quality, construction?
Sundance mens catalog
Recently arrived among the mass of holiday catalogs, lots of good stuff.
Some vintage looking boots made with Horween (non-shell) leather in contrasting colors caught my eye.
Leather jackets, officers shirts, and accessories also looked good.
Hi all,
I've got a mustard colored vintage doeskin men's vest for sale, about a 41/42 short. Purchased from a eb** seller in Britain, it does not fit me (I'm a robust 44R). The satin back has some water stains, but it is in good vintage condition overall.
More details and pics at this...
I recently acquired a number of pairs of vintage kidskin gloves (ivory color), extra small (women's size 6).
The gloves are in various lengths, including some that would go to the elbow for evening wear. The workmanship is incredible, though some are in need of cleaning. If anyone is...
I live in Downey, kind of like being in exile...
About San Francisco, I was there last weekend and had a great time (dinners at Schroeders and Big Four). The streets seemed cleaner than LA, the bums less aggressive.
Hear, hear. I'm in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and we generally wear tropical blues (in Southern California) in public. Much better image than the operational uniform.
Some California ports are very good. Ficklin and Quady from Madera, California come to mind.
Quady produces some fine vintage ports.
Generally, I'll go to Trader Joes and pick up a bottle of traditional LBV, though.
thoughts on Budweiser
I've never tasted Bud's attempts at Belgian style beer.
To me the curious thing is that Bud has the money, technology, and know-how to brew whatever they want. Why they want to sell mediocre beer is beyond me. Kind of like GM vehicles, you look at it and wonder...
I picked up some "Selvage Khakis" by Lincs at a local Marshalls earlier this month. Well made, nice color, and not too wrinkly out of the wash. About $20.
No info on the net about the company, alas...
American Ale by Budweiser
Anybody else try Budweiser's American Ale yet?
Its not the greatest beer in the world, but a very decent tipple. Light years better than regular Bud.
Koenigpilsner from Germany is pretty good too. On tap locally at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim - home of Orange...
