    Meaning of tie stripes

No, that makes you a factual wizard!

    What are you wearing today??

    Kools, that suit is great!

    Typewriter ribbons.

Do you know what model your typewriter is? Odds are, you'll be able to find a ribbon of the same width at any business supply store. The spool fitting is another story. If you refuse to buy online, you can get the ribbon of the same width and respool it onto the spool it came with.

A word to men who wear high boots

Yeah, oxblood boots are still a big skin thing. Punks usually go for shorter, black ones. And the majority of skinheads, at least in Philly, are not racist or for that matter gay. They usually are the most pro-active against racism and homophobia, though. Good lot of people if you can get...

Show us your Thrift and/or yard sale finds

Mmmhm. Have you been to Zern's? Despite there being only 4-5 teeth per every hundred person at any given time there, or perhaps because of it, interesting things can be found. There's an entire store for vintage clothing, almost entirely women's.

    At a store near you!

I decided to check my Wal-Mart when I saw that blog post. I picked up a pair for under 10 dollars and a 4 disk Hitchcock collection (silent films through to his TV show) for 5. It was a good day, for sure.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

I like the idea of it, I just don't personally think that hat is the right vehicle for said idea. Personally, I think it'd look better sans the black and with the matching silvers.

    What Happens to Old Towns?

Mm-mm gentrification. Our town's an old, rural farming town, and you can see glimpses of it around. But now next to all the farms are sprawls of houses and, more recently, shopping centers. Lots of 'em. Really, really sad. One of the signers of the Declaration lived in town, and his house is...

    Is this a Homburg?

Looks like a stingy to me, based on brim thickness and treatment.

    Another Ribbon Swap....

I like the last one the most. I think the color of the hat is so odd (unique, not ugly), that the transition that ribbon provides into brown makes a big difference.

    Fedoras at the inaguration

One of my older teachers made a remark to the tune of "It's about time men wore hats again". There were tons.

    Dating a Cavanagh Hat

A fine hat such as that? I'd take it to a nice Italian restaurant. Don't skimp on the wine.

    Esquire comment on hats

The man's wearing a four-in-hand with a tux. 'Nuff said.

Will Obama wear a topper for his Inauguration?

So was the Whig Party. Those guys sure are off the deep end these days, I'll tell you.

    Post New Hats Here!

A trip to the local Irish store and 53 dollars later, my first Hannah cap (ignore the bad quality of the photos, there's no sun out today):

Jaunty, I have to point out that I absolutely love your coat.

    Jeans

I'm only 16, so I obviously can't speak with authority about jeans of the past, but what I've gleamed from being in the local hardcore scene might prove useful. Skinheads wear Levi's (501's are very popular), usually a little bit longer than your normal cut of jeans. Our neat little "trick"...

Will Obama wear a topper for his Inauguration?

I don't know if it's been brought up here before, but the man did wear a fedora in his youth at least:

    unbelievable!

I've never seen any official Sailor Jerry merch on a scenester, only hardcore kids (who tend to be covered). They at least keep true to his designs. Von Dutch would be angry, I'd like to imagine. His heirs were the ones who sold his name, not him. I have no respect for Hardy.
