I've been enjoying the wool Hannah Hats I purchased over the winter and one leather cap I've had for a few years, and another leather one I purchased from a fellow lounger. Not that the weather is beginning to warm up, what light weight caps do you like or recommend? I've been looking at a...
I've not dealt with Donegal Importers. I've purchased Hanna hats from Sullivans Irish Alley (http://www.sullivansirishalley.com/mysitecaddy/site3/shop/product.htm?productID=8733) in Michigan and also from ebay seller irecrafts-au whose prices were the best. The drawback of both of these is...
Old and New
Haven't posted for awhile, thought the Cap Faction would be a good place to stop by.
Here is an old no name leather cap I've had for years. It still gets a lot of wear each winter.
And here is the new one. A Hanna flat cap. I got this today from Sullivan's Irish Alley...
I bought this Stetson last summer and never did take to it. I have worn it about 10 times. It still looks as new, no sign of wear or damage. It was a little big on me, I used some foam strips for a better fit. Color is cognac. Comes with the original Bencraft box. $55 + shipping.
My situation, and sentiments, exactly. Two co-owners and one cuts my hair much better than the other. I tip them both, but make an appointment for my favorite whenever possible. $2 to $3 tip per haircut, at Christmas they get twice the price of a haircut.
This is a small town shop, I've...
I have a black Bogart. It's stiffer than my Fedoras, and I wear it mainly with a black suit or sport coat. It seems more formal to me, but that may be just the way it looks on my noggin. Not an everyday hat for me.
I have two Fedoras - one grey and one brown. The grey is no doubt my favorite...
Picked up one of the Montecristi Graysons from them this week. Very comfy and keeps my noggin much cooler than my milan. I bought it for yard work, but after steaming it for a little deeper dents, I may make it my new everyday hat...
Very nice look jharrell! Any chance of getting a side shot? I've been looking at some of the wide brimmed Akubras for outside work this summer and have considered the Banjo.
Nice review
Thanks for the review Blackthorn. Looks like they did a great job on your Dobbs, and the store looks like an interesting place to visit.
From this article, it looks like it all started in 1918:

Looks like that date is visible to the left of...
Right you are sir! I like your first choice. I'm more traditional myself like others here, my first 'real fedora' was an Akubra Fedora in carbon grey.
You wear that one well, and you have much to look forward to!
Sweatband - what kind of leather?
What kind of leather has been traditionally used to make sweatbands? Has this changed over time from the day of vintage hats until now?
Specifically - does anyone know what kind of leather is used in current production Akubras?
Thanks
