Thanks Rusty, I wish I could say it was a good Thanksgiving but it was spent in the Hospital with my wife. Emergency Tuesday night and not home till Sunday. She'll be fine so despite the lack of turkey, I'm immensly grateful. Cheers- Art Fawcett

I started aut 400 grit often working up to 1200 depending on the color and content of the felt. Please know that even within the same mfg. line, colors have their own idiosyncracies as to pouncing and sandpaper grit needed.- Art Fawcett

Hi TWK, Belfastboy has answered much about pouncing by hand so I won't need to go there. I used the orbital sander with a super fine grit in order to get the softest finish possible but trust me, this takes some serious practice so as a hobbiest, stay with hand pouncing. Although all of sweat my work was by "eye", 5 to 7 degrees cut at the rear of the sweat usually works well. This is something you'll have to experiment with. A sewing machine was always my friend :)- Art Fawcett

I like the changes you made to the bow, looks cleaner than it did before Sir. As for the thread twisting, run the thread through thread wax before starting. It won't completely clear up the problem but will help a lot.. Also, give the sweatband a slightly more angled cut before sewing the rear...- Art Fawcett

Welcome to the Lounge Darrell, When I had this problem I wet the brim heavily at the wrinkles, sprayed lightly over the entire brim and used a heavy ( 20lb or so) dry iron to press them out, pulling the brim as I went. OK BBoy, first the term is "singing" not "firing" although I can see why you would coin that given your experience with it. :) CVW is correct in the alcohol you should use but the normal spray bottle will give mixed results. Where did you purchase the ones you would send out in the mail once the deposit was secured? Yes, I would not have undertaken this if it wasn't local and if I didn't know the client. This is exactly why I used the plastic conformator Robert. What if he didn't live close? If you have a formillion you can reproduce the shape without having to make the wooden band block, cutting down the time. Good work!!- Art Fawcett
