    Only murders in the Building

I know this will get moved to the “ask a question” or “stingy brims” thread but thought I would give it a shot on the open forum first. Who makes Steve’s hats? I read Goorin brothers did the matching hat bands for the outfits but who made the hats? Yes I know they are probably wool numbers but...

USMC/Promotional Sun helmet show off or DIY.

There is a Pith Helmet thread if Doom for proper, or at least close to proper pith helmets. But the pressed fiber sun helmet used by the USMC since 1934 and countless civilian use has not got any love - yet. I intend to buy one or at least the modern iteration to make my own graffitied or...

    Recovering an old hat.

This is a new to me Akubra “Down Under” model I got from Mm25. I knew it was a little small and he said there was a tear in the sweat band but I love the style so I thought “what the heck” This hat is at least 20 years old. By the size tag, hat band and the red liner Akubra discontinued around...

    Colour vs heat

On a hot sunny days do you find dark colours hotter than light? Years ago I found my black Akubra Down Under a little to unbearable when plant shopping and haven’t worn it in summer since. But find my Sandtone fawn Akubra Snowy River just fine. Thought? Opinions? Am I out to lunch? Agree? Johnny

    Go fly a kite!

No. Don’t go away. Unless it’s to actually go kite flying. Great fun in this social isolation and gets the kids out of the house. Long crazy history as well. Anyone else into this activity? my son finally got it and figured out how to keep it in the air and get it there on his own. Johnny

    20’s kind of a hat.

At the turn of another decade maybe we can post some 20’s hats that can be brought forward 100 year. Johnny.

    Hats by the hundred

So my friend at work loves my hats. She has her own bowler she bought in Vancouver but really wanted a crocodile Dundee hat. So after some conversation about what she actually wanted we found this hat online. https://www.hatsbythe100.com.au/akubra-snowy-river-croc-rodeo-brown.html So she...

    Knit hat

In Canada we call it a toque or touque. But it goes by many names - knit cap, knit hat, watch cap, beanie, sock hat, ski hat, bobble hat….. you get the idea. The most common winter hat here in Canada but has a long history. I thought we should maybe have a thread dedicated to this ancient...

    Zoot suit and modern Fedora

Came across this video and thought I would share https://www.redbull.tv/video/AP-1NJVK7ZVH2111/fedoras?playlist=AP-1NEU3RCRW1W11:season:1 Interesting take on the hat we all love. I like the end bit with the rude boys of London. Johnny

    Hats 'n Jerseys

Hats 'n jerseys. Well I have been going Hawaiian shirt Friday for the last four month with only one other guy actually joining me. So with fall rolling in and Hockey season starting I thought I would try something a little different. And yes I know they should technically be called sweaters...

Where The Rubber Hits The Road

Story time. 15 years ago I invested over $200 into a pair of Red Ring boots. Really expensive at the time but I justified it by telling myself I can get them re-soled for just $50 when they wear out. Well worth it! Right? Now its 15 years later and the “SuperSole” finally blew out. Uppers are in...

    Spring jacket time!

I am hoping I am seeing the last of winter. It's still -15 Celsius as a high today but next week it's going to be on the plus side of things. I have lost some weight and am thinking of a new spring jacket. Possibly retiring my London Fog bomber style and getting something new. Anybody else...

    Sun Faded Love

I was reading another forum and was surprised at how much they talked about sun fading. I didnt think any of my hats had faded at all. Then again I don't think I have ever looked behind a robbon. Then I had a look  oh my. This has got to be a great sign of a well loved and worn hat. Here...

    Quintessential modern production fedora.

As the title states - what is the must have modern production fedora on the market today? Years ago I would have told you an Akubra federation hands down. But the thread has been dead since December until this last Saturday. I seem to be a little out of touch. Let's hear what the popular vote...

New office work shoes for under $200 shipped?

As the thread title said. I was originally going to buy some Allen Edmonds but with conversion now adays they are far to much money even as seconds. My pair or brown Bostonians are now just about done. The heel is worn down to the leather. The lining is disintegrating. They lasted ten years so I...

To beard or not to beard?

Simple question. Been growing one since November and shaved it off tonight. Mistake? Grow it back? Keep shaving? Or My wife never really gave me any feedback apart from no moustaches or goat-tees. Johnny

Hats Renamed or Associated with fictional characters.

I was looking up Porkpie Hats (Pork Pie if you prefer) and could not find a lot online. Then I discovered the “Breaking Bad” character is now famous for wearing a black one. So now its called a Heisenberg and labeled as such by a lot of online business . http://www.goorin.com/heisenberg-hat...
