The initial episode of Duffy's Tavern, broadcast as part of Forecast, the NBC program that put on shows to gauge audience reaction. Duffy's passed the test and went on to a network run. Ed Gardner as Archie the bar keep mangles the King's English and the humor is genuinely off the wall. Good stuff.
Let me dig this solid cat and see what jumps in that wig of his that's causing all the flip on the vine.

Old time remakes float my boat, because I can dance to them when all the DJ has, is some 80's hip hop.
Ask a DJ for The Andrews Sisters and you will get a blank stare, ask for Candyman................

Ask for a 1930's blues song and you will definitely get a blank stare, but ask for The Cherry Poppin' Daddies,

You might be lucky with a Jackie Wilson request, but this guy will just blow you away.

Clancy Brothers -- Bringin' Home The Oil

This is a very special nostalgia piece for me. The NBC News space coverage of the Apollo missions which I eagerly followed as a little guy was sponsored by Gulf Oil and I remember this commercial well from those historic TV broadcasts. In fact I practically knew this song by heart. At that time I couldn't decide whether I wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up or "a workin' on a tank ship"

    I'm an able-bodied sailor
And I've often crossed the Line
On whaling ships and sailing ships
    And ships of every kind
But now I've got the very best job
I've had for many a day
    I'm workin' on a tanker
    Bringin' oil to Bantry Bay

    (Chorus)
Bringin' home the oil, me boys
    Bringin' home the oil
    Sailin' all around the world
    Bringin' home the oil
A workin' on a tank ship
    Is very hard we toil
    A sailin' into Bantry Bay
    Bringin' home the oil

She is the biggest ship, me lads
    That ever sailed the seas
Yet graceful as a swan she goes
We sail her at our ease
    From Araby around Cape Hope
    We proudly make our way
    To keep all Europe movin'
From our base in Bantry Bay

    They're building other tankers now
To speed more oil to you
    The
    Universe Kuwait, me lads
    Japan and Portugal too
    Also the
    Universe Ireland
    I'm very proud to say
    Is among the giant ships
That's bringin' oil to Bantry Bay
