    Question Pocket Squares

Well, I've gotten into the habit of wearing a lot of tweed jackets. I was curious as to what type of material would be appropriate for a pocket square with them. A silk pocket square would seem a bit out of place.

You might try a wool square. Though linen or a patterned silk could work as well.

I think that will work quite well. The shine of the silk was what I didn't like... It didn't compliment the clothes.... Though a patterned silk might work...

Now I've just got to find some linen or wool ones.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Pocket squares are also wicked easy to slap together, and you can get a ton of them in whatever you want.

I just scored a Botany wool tie from the 30s - beautiful goods but waaay too short for my 17" neck. Maybe I ought to chop it up for a PS

    Wow. Bad idea.
Try going very short with the smaller end to get more length out of it. But I really hope you won't take the scissors to a nice vintage tie.

Splendid houndstooth check! Wish i could find such material locally here. The fabric and cloth establishments do not carry such delightful patterns.

Well, I'm headed home for the holidays and thought I'd spend some time raiding the forgotten drawers in my parents house. I know mom has a large number of silk scarves that might be usable as pocket squares. What would be the largest size I'd want to use?
